Turbo Tuner 335i

Turbo Tuner 335i
being a former 8 owner I still feel I should be posting here?..maybe a part of me just misses the car
I have now owner a 335i with sport and prem package for 6weeks, and just took the plunge and purchased the turbo tuner for the car.
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...5&d=1171572770
I was hesitant to do this as my past experience with tuning the 8 with the Canzoomer was very poor...my car wouldn't accept the map changes, the chk engine light would come on, and the knock sensor would always go off...but I know these 2 cars are very different and after reading some reviews and speaking with Jeff directly I bought it a few days ago from a shop in Canada (Red Deer)
The car was very very quick before, and I have been shocked at how many morons on the road see you in the car and want to race all the time? Maybe it's because they know it's the 335 and are curious about the twin turbo??
I am a believer BMW unstated the original 0-60 and 1/4 mile times in this car, but the Turbo Tuner is a pleasant surprise.
I will take some pics, but once I located where it had to go (with the help of Jeff on the phone - guy in Red Deer directed me to the wrong stop) I was hooked up in 20mins....it's simply a plug and play..and can be removed with no sign prior to taking it to the dealership...the car runs like it is stock and the original feeling of the power is maintained, there is just more of it!
It has been really hot here the last few days, and the car still felt strong....time will allow me to give a more detailed review, but from a light and using my paddle shifts the car went from very dam quick (in my opinion) to very fast! on the thread over there a think a few guys are getting 4.5 0-60 times....would love to run it somewhere here in the 1/4 just to see?
only thing I noticed was that after some spirited play, the temp moved up a little (5degrees)...but back off right away....I know a few people have been talking about the Oil cooling issues that have been seen on these cars?? Mine is a later production 07, and I have never noticed anything? in fact I was surprised at how cool it ran? but like I said, with the TT, it did get a bit warmer, but that could be simply the warm weather and really hard driving. Stock for stock I think this car is similar to the older m3's as far as performance...there are a few owners over there that have gone from the m3 to the 335......but now I am pretty dam sure this car would walk one. It's been fun, and I will take some pics to show off the new baby....but I still think about my 8 from time to time

knock it off, this is a perfectly fine post and in the correct section. Not everyone hear still has their 8.
Broker you plan on 1/4 anytime soon? I heard that some 335's after similar mods are easily into the mid 12's. Great car, what color?

I would like to.....just not sure where I can do one here?....I got the black metallic
So far I am loving the car, but not loving the nice rock chips I got when I drove down to pick up the mod?! Dam gravel truck hit a bump and lost a bunch of rocks...one of which found me......
Yah I think the 12's are possible with this mod....I would love to try

This has to be the most irritating cliche since the whole "it''ll pwn it in the twisties".
There's no f-in way this car could be a poor man's M3, unless of course your definition of poor man is being able to afford a 50k car.

whatever. I was just giving him a hard time because he expressed some hesitation about posting here about his car.
anyway, I'm admittedly an M fanboy. And I used to be one step away when I had my 330, then the 335 came out. I hate it for that. It seems to me like it's sandwiched uncomfortably between the 330 and the M. With some turbo mods, the 330 would be the 335. Why make it? I dunno. Maybe it's because BMW wanted to offer people that don't have enough for the M and also have have no modding/tuning ability something they would like.
I like BMWs. I like my 8 more though.

your 335i should come equipped with the extra oil cooler on the front passenger side. i haven't dealt with too many 335i yet, but it's definately a fast car. i believe BMW performance (new line of performance mods) for the E90 will be out this month. suspension pieces, wheels, exhausts, etc.

Stealth any ideas where I can take the car and run it? I would love to see the difference with the unit in, and without. I took it out on Monday...car went into dealership for some emissions part replacement, and it only took me 2mins to take it off.
I do noitce it shifts different in sport mode? But never done a 1/4mile..would love to try.

yes it competes with both products you mentioned.
It puts out less power than the Procede, but they did so to be safe. It's also much easier to put in and take out than the procede (to my knowledge?). It literally takes 2-3 mins to take out prior to dealer service
I always run premium gas, and the only difference I notice from stock (aside from more power) is the car shifts a bit different in sport mode? Hard to explain, but probably due to more torque at the wheels?
With the Auto, I have to have traction control turned off from a dead stop if I floor it or power cuts out due to wheel spin. I do notice a difference in power, but 40hp on a car that pumps out 300 already...it's not like you are completely changing the dynamics of the car...but I'll tell you this, I have surprised an M3 recently that tried to run with me He was in my rear view mirror. I have only had the unit for a little over a week? and so far it's been good. It's just so nice to be able to have a true plug and play.

I have the sports package on my car, and it does handle really well.....but yes it does feel heavier than the 8...not many cars have that "glove like" feel of the 8. If the 8 only had about 75+more HP it would be close to perfect. Handling wise the 8 was still one of few cars that I have owned were you could drive it to the limit with confidence!
For a Sedan you can really throw it around, and man the power is incredible....
as far as the post by Terry about the TT not being safe, your assumptions on the techincal specs on that mode are incorrect, and after some research I found out you are trying to promote your own unit...and don't have much credit on BMW forums and tuner sites. But good luck....I did a lot of research on Eurobahn, and they've been doing this for a while.

here is a reply on the other forum Terry from Split Second
"I emailed tech support at Split Second and they said that their Turbo Tuner enriches fuel through the TMAP sensor where it is connected inline to. It also enriches fuel by the adaptation in the DME.
The MAP and air intake temperature is integrated into one sensor. Both are direct inputs for fuel control, ignition timing, and boost"

I found out some interesting facts about you today...your technical background etc...and the fact you sold you TT to a friend??...and also bought a procede then got rid of it as well in 3weeks or so...you were also rejected from buying another tuning product weren't you? bottom line your credibility is shot with me...and with many others I understand. Split Second hass been doing this for 15yrs....don't they or related parties have legal concerns with you right now? From what I've been told I would be careful what you say, and information you post.
#24
didn't you sell it to a relative?..lol.....well I will put my trust in someone who had been tuning BMW's for 15yrs...as apposed to someone who has been known to post "inaccurate" info.
goodluck!

I had a long conversation with Jeff at Eurobahn...and I am no technical expert...but the feedback from him was enlightening....I was told that you have left out info in your claims....I am not going to get into here as I would not properly explain it.......why is it that you have such a poor image on the other forums?
They've been tuning cars for 15yrs...any lawsuits yet?
