turn signal problem

It all started when my passenger rear turn signal light went out. When I went to replace the bulb the socket was all melted and charred. I bought a new socket and bulb and realized that the turn signal works when the lights are not on. When the lights are on just the passenger side rear tail light doesn't work. I don't know what to do and need help before I get a ticket. thanks.

archie,

do you own an RX8? if so, you should post in the RX8 general discussion or even the lighting areas. if you DON't own an RX8, why are you asking on an 8 forum?

If it is an 8, and the socket was melted I would just go to the dealer and have it replaced and found why it melted.
