I've heard that this video was the inspiration for the Mazdaspeed 3.

Ha, I'm not surprised at your comment Ike. Since you’re a Mazda hater who keeps trolling this forum.

The engine transplant is a cool idea. But the SRT-4 rims. Meh. Looks sorta ghey. And that's saying a lot considering it started life as a Plymouth Voyager. I would have gone for the SRT-4's exhaust also but kept the rims stock.

Rob's a friend of mine (guy with mustache in the first video) and so is Bryan (guy shooting first video). It's been amazing what can be done to these cars for relatively cheap. I have a 91' convertible Shadow that I've put together (8-valve motor). I've got some pics over on my website www.theshadallac.com as well as some videos of my last Shadow turbo car. The second video I believe is Terry Ryan? I could be wrong though. I love the RX-8, but the amount of money it takes to get it real powerful is a bit steep. 2 different kinds of vehicles I love for what they offer!

That's actually a really clean transplant.

Yup, Rob does good work. I paid him to re-build my short block a couple years back when I didn't have the time.

People keep saying that, but what the hell does a dirty one involve? Duct tape? Elbow macaroni?

Moreover, who cares if its a clean transplant? It's not enough to know how to do it... you have to know why it needs to be done. And this doesn't.

It's pretty funny to watch the people's faces/expressions at the track when they see a van like this make a run.

thats a gay move in some circles and earns respect in others.....

imo if the van was worth a lil more than 500 bucks the swap would have been more interesting.......think along the lines of an STi B9 tribeca or somethin........

Not very cost effective buying a $30k suv just to do an engine swap. Rob probably spent $2k or less I'd imagine to accomplish this. It's kind of a long tradition going back to the original turbo mopar minivans (8v 2.5 motors). Just a little bit more spectacular with the SRT motor. Rob's also got a 10 sec. Shelby Charger with a 2.4 motor.
