VW/Audi builds a car for Flashwing

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/20/a...ds-pikes-peak/

Flashwing wants cars that drive themselves so idiots dont kill everyone. THis new Autonomous Audi TTS drove itself up Pikes Peak in 27 minutes- human drivers take an average of 17 minutes. I t also managed a top speed of 47mph on one stretch

I'm pretty sure you need to go back and re-read what Flash said.
He wants cars that DON'T drive themselves like practically every other car on the road today.

When he said
Instead, the solution is making a smarter car. Cars that park themselves, stop themselves and warn the driver when they are doing stupid things.
he was making a facetious statement on the sad state of affairs that such things are considered a "solution" instead of better driver's education.

That is why he started out with
Honestly, I think cars should not have the massive amount of electronics. No cellphone or bluetooth, no radio...just a wheel and pedals.

Always. It is a pretty prevalent problem around here, so exceptions are hard to accept.

E was just quoting Chapelle.

Besides, Todd wouldn't drive and Audi.

Oh crap I just found this thread!

It won't be long before the horrors of Forza are realized when professional drivers compete against computer driven cars.

Speaking of an Audi TT, I recall seeing one at the pavilions that was twin turbo'd. Too bad the car still weighed 2 tons because of the massive amount of reinforcement necessary for the soft tops. It was nice to look at but that's about it.

I like the R8, though if I was going to spend that much money on a car I'd probably find a late 90's supra and mod that instead. I think those cars are much better lookers when modified right and make STUPID amounts of power.

The S5 I saw at UMS a couple weeks back was nice but with only 279whp stock and a 4600 lbs chassis my RX8 will be much faster after my rebuild is done...hell it's probably just as fast now with 3150 lbs w/ driver and 185whp.

Cars pick the driver and I doubt there's an Audi that would tolerate me.

I digress....

No subway, just Jimmy Johns. Though I need to cut that **** out.
