What was that Jag I saw today?
Came off the train tonight and was stunned at the new Jaguar sitting there. Very nice coupe, with three strakes. Anyone know what it was, how much it cost and (so as to keep the topic appropriate to the forum), how it compares to the RX-8? I'm particularly interested in price.
EDIT: On reflection, and after searching for a while, I'm no longer convinced it was a Jaguar. The car had three strakes but was definitely not a Crossfire. (The plates were "JAGMAN," which I now realize may have simply referred to the JAG Corp. -- a military lawyer, perhaps?) Does Jaguar offer any cars that can have three strakes? Any suggestions? To keep things on topic, if I trade in my RX-8, how much is it going to cost me to get one of those cars? Wow.

I think you might be referring to the Jaguar XJS, the sports car of Jaguar.. it retails for like 80 grand and can probably spank an RX-8 except in the looks department. I know cuz my dad dreams of owning one, in the mean while my parents just bought a Jaguar X-type which is ok but old-manish.

Definitely had strakes... I was pretty sure there were three, but I must admit the SL looks similar. Is it possible it was a debadged SL? I think I would have noticed the badge on the hood. The SL photos I've seen all have the badges in the same place as the RX-8 badge -- dead center on the nose.

Thanks for the photos guys, but I'm not sure... if I see the car again I'll nail it down and will try to take a photo. It was beautiful! Still, if it was a $90,000 Jag, I'm pretty pleased with myself. My RX-8 wasn't nearly as nice, but it wasn't too bad either. IMO, "Jagman" and I had the nicest cars in the lot.

No... the only way I think I could find out now would be to get a cop to run the plates for me and check the make of the car (Illinois or Wisconsin, "JAGMAN"), but that would be very wrong
If I had to guess, I'd bet it was the Mercedes SL, but I really thought there were three strakes.
By the way, this is exactly why I'd love to get my 8 "de-badged." So much fun to drive people crazy, and I think it'd work for a few more months anyway here in the midwest where the weather hasn't been sportscar friendly for a while. I suspect the RX-8s are going to "bloom" this summer, but until then big fun watching people walk to the back of the car to read the badge. I saw another 8 on the road last Tuesday. Only the third one since September.
