same as title. Im thinking Kerosene might be better?
at least gallon for gallon Kerosene is 10 times cheaper than Seafoam ... cheap enough for me to soak the parts into it to wash it (with gloves and mask on, of course)
What do you use to remove Carbon off engine parts? I tried Zoom Zoom cleaner today, it actually work pretty good ---- as long as you can soak the whole part in.
I tried it on the rotor and the 6-port actuator for my FC.
and after I tried it today, I can see the reason why Mazda wants you to "heat" your engine up first, then let it sit for at least an hour before you start it again.
because if you don't heat it, it won't be as effective. so in the end I just ran hot water over my rotor and 6-port actuator for couple of minutes, wipe the water off a bit, then spray it on right away. tilt the actuator a bit just like the picture so a puddle of the zoom zoom cleaner sits at the bottom of it.
After about 30 minutes, I took it out and scrotch-brite it, everything came off.
not so great on the rotor side because all the zoom zoom cleaner just leak onto the newspaper
Seafoam is same as Zoom Zoom cleaner, but too expensive to buy 1 gallon of it to "soak" parts.

I saw those the day it came out
For that Engine, Aaron didn't have to do too much cleaning because unlike mine, that cosmo engine was pretty much brand new. Mine is like X years of carbon build up + it has like zillion tons of grease/dirt all over the engine
before I use the Zoom Zoom cleaner I actually soak the whole thing into a bucket of Simple Green to get rid of all the grease
after that I use my newly bought razor blade (100 pack for 10 bux at Homedepot) and scape like tons of Carbon off.
Some people use Kerosene to clean parts because its cheap and does the job pretty good. That's what they say, I never try it before.
Worst, where can I buy Kerosene?

I think kerosine be hard to find it in NYC. You can probably look at small hardware stores that sell kerosine for heaters and lanterns. Outside of NYC, you can probably find them at gas stations in towns.

I did, and I saw that too, thats why I bought a brass brush yesterday at homedepot (same time buying the razor blades and a bunch of other stuff for cleaning)
I was just wondering if Kerosene is really as good as people say at cleaning carbon. Cuz its really cheap, I found some place online selling it for like couple bux a gallon.
I can't get a parts washer cuz I am running out of garage space.

I still got 3 iron (front and rear and int) to clean. from the looks of it it's probably trash, front iron ...
I don't even know why it's like that, other people said sometimes that happens and I need to check and see if its some jerk used stop leak kind of bs on it or just clogged coolant passage.
I have no idea how long has it been running like this.when I got the car I did 2 distilled water flush then I use 50/50 on it. hmm. if I didn't do that the engine probably blew long time ago ?

You should have used parts cleaner. Thats what its for and comes in 5 gallon jugs. You can just soak the part in it, then use a soft wire brush to clean the parts. Get it at NAPA. Works wonders for cleaning guns too just fyi.

Drill + wire brush after some parts cleaner or kerosene\gasoline.
Works wonders
If you're hardcore and have a bench grinder it's even better, lol.
It's the fastest\cheapest way but don't try it if you have to clean soft metals!

going to see if I can get Kerosene in NYC ... I think for the money that's probably the best. ---- just make sure there will be no spark/no one smokes around me. BBQ myself will not be fun !

make sure you don't tell the store clerk "i'm looking for kerosene and fertilizer"
i'm only partly kidding and i'm sure that's why it's harder to find any kerosene in NYC.
You can check camping supply stores or stores that sell indoor heaters. Basically anyplace that would carry it as a fuel.
Other option would be old school mom and pop hardware store.

Coke (Coca Cola) is excellent for cleaning things like that. When I was in the army we would clean the gas parts of our rifles with it. It is really high acid content, it will also dissolve your teeth in a few hours. Appart from that you can drink any you don't use.
