What's the fastest speed you ever done?

1) The gearing of the RX-8 limits it to 184.
2) The RX-8 is considered to be drag limited (air resistance) to roughly 160 mph. Were you perhaps on a downhill slope at all? Even a minor slope can help. On a flat surface or any slight incline, you did not hit 165. The only other exception would be if you had some serious wind behind you.
3) I hope you have some compelling proof of this "Mazdaspeed" version. I'd be very impressed if you had a car that was never actually made.

also just an fyi to all of you posting your top speeds, IIRC, some one here had their warranty voided because they posted their top speed here... it was a bs move but it still happened
#56
LOL you can't take bragging for fact, and how do you want my insurance company to know who I am?
#57
it has nothing to do with insurance... warranty is provided through mazda just thought I'd be nice and warn people I really couldn't care less if you heed it or not

Dude I don't know what you are all talking about that a RX-8 can't go over 160.....
I got mine up to like 242 the other day... I was at a red light and a Koenigsegg pulled up on one side of me and a Bugatti pulled up on the other side (I think one of those Dodge Tomahawk bikes that they did a prototype of a few years ago might have pulled up too)... And they were lookin at me like they were about to burn me but they didn't know that I have the special Zonda version RX-8 that is a 6 Rotor with 3.5 turbochargers and a like super-strong tank of this mixture of nitrous and jet fuel...... I smoked those guys so hard. I think I did a quarter mile in like 2.7 seconds maybe.....
OMG I almost forgot this is like hilarious, as soon as I was done i got pulled over and I blew a 4.8 in a breathalyzer cause I had just drank like 3 bottles of liquor but the cop let me go cause he was like "wow bro man you just beat that Bugatti". And a ton of fine ladies saw the whole thing go down so I got like super laid that night...... :Sai yan:
Oops did I say 3.5 turbochargers. I meant 13.5. MY BAD

unless you have spent the money to calibrate your speedo this threads useless. I have seen them as far as reading 6mph faster than you are actually traveling. They do it intentionally, plus if you don't have the stock size tires on then your speeds off anyways.

I hope you're joking because you're not going to trick a board of enthusiasts into thinking that your car is different from what we know to be possible. If you're a troll, I applaud your act. If not, this is my response:

Here is me doing 125MPH not as cool as 165, but I really don't want to be recording my speedometer with a cell phone while doing more than 15omph. **** that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-qD86f10nk

Also, the 184 limit is by gearing. I was just pointing out that the comment about your 8 being able to hit 190 was incorrect. The only way the 8 can hit the 184 limit is on a dyno or jack stands... basically, it can't hit that on a road. The wind will always limit it before it hits that. Similar to how the wind will limit it before it hits 165. I'm not saying it can't hit 165 mph. I'm just saying it can't hit 165 mph on a flat road with normal wind conditions. Your car is not special and better than the rest of the RX-8's out there.

Because the car is drag limited. I haven't heard a claim beyond 160 mph and at those speeds, a 5 mph difference is quite substantial. Most people are only able to reach 150-155 range. 160 mph would be high and somewhat questionable, but still within possibility. 165 mph pretty much guarantees that something is not right with that reading or you're on a decline.

I'm not sure if this thread has ever been done or not, but I want to know what's the fastest you have ever done on an RX-8 or any other car, racetrack or on the street. If you can post video or pics of the speedometer then excellent, but I'm not encouraging it. I've only done 165mph on my 04 RX-8 while driving from Riverside to San Diego, CA on the 15 south at like 2am on a Monday, but I only got video of a time I did 135mph.

GPS measured 633 mph in a commuter jet from Chicago to Columbus. The air turbulence on the skin made a rumble so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation without shouting. I got in trouble on the return trip. The flight attendant didn't like me having the antenna attached to the window. There was a little blue indicator LED that she didn't like at all.

Well, whether 165MPH is some kind of mythical speed on an RX-8 or not, I did it; believe it or not. In the end it may not be about the car being special, it maybe about me having the big cojones to do it, because if a toyota camry, a grocery getter essentially, can do 130mph, how come an RX8 can't do 165mph? I bet that most of you guys have not pushed your RX8s to the limits, therefore you don't know what they're capable of.
