Looks more like something isn't there that should be - like the #2 connecting rod.

or a big **** hole in your engine!

the guy who had it, jsut had it rebuilt. while doing so, he had the pistons replaces with forged ones, lighter cams etc etc

5000km later, whilst on the track, hears a loud bang. thinks he rolled over something and looks out the rear view mirror and sees smoke and bits of metal on the road.

backtracking, he finds the pieces of metal that (used) belong to his engine and piston rod and piston head. they all managed to escape from that hole!

He didn't assume that at all. I think he probably missed the hole in the block and only noticed the blue nozzles at the top and wondered if these were it and if it were nitrous. Hence the use of a question mark. What nitrous nozzles would be doing in the valve cover I don't know but sadly enough it wouldn't be the first time a Honda boy has installed nitrous in the valve cover!

There was a dumb kid a couple of years ago who installed a nitrous nozzle in his S2000 valve cover. He proceeded to ask about it on a Honda forum where they promptly told him he was an idiot and how to fix it. Not listening, he kept cranking up the shot and still getting no extra power. He finally blew up the engine from the nitrous but not in the usual way. He had injected so much nitrous into his valve cover so fast that he literally froze and shattered a camshaft! What a moron! You never know, this picture could have been of someone just as stupid. I actually missed the hole in the block too. My first inclination was to answer the question "what's wrong with this photo" with "It's not a rotary?".

I did see the hole . I assumed the op was asking what was on this engine that caused this to happen when he said :

"I think there is something on here that shouldn't be "

So here's me looking all over the engine to see what caused the damage and expecting the OP to remove the overalls to reveal the secret ...

LOL I was going to say pistons too! At least 3 pistons that shouldn't be there. The other one apparently got the hint and left.

A kid I know turboed his hatchback civic, and he had fuel management and everything...but he opted to ignore the massive boost creep he was getting...he wanted to race me so I did, and he kept up alright, I mean I didn't beat him by as much as I thought I would, but come to find out his boost was supposed to be at 8 but was creeping all the way up to 14. His **** was smoking when we got back to my house. He blew his headgasket and his rings are almost shot now.

I'm guessing what shouldn't be on there is that big bag of white powder the guy snorted right before he shot his rod through the crankcase. No pun intended.
