When an rx-8 owner wants a new car...
What do I do? I have a winning blue '04 and I love the car. I usually keep a car about 4 years before getting another one and I've had this one for about 3 1/2 years now. But in thinking about a new car to get, what is there? I want a sporty car like the rx-8 and around the same price range. I do like the z, but I just can't see myself getting one, but besides the 8 and the z, there's nothing else out there! And I'm not going to buy another 8 since is pretty much has not changed at all since '04. Whats the word on that new Supra thats supposed to be coming out? And I know about the Kabura/rx-7/new rotary engine crap thats going on, but geez, 2010? Thats a long way off. I don't want to wait that long, but I might have to. I've never been in this situation before. When it comes time to think about a new car, there's always something I'd have my eye on thats already out, but this time, the only thing I have my eyes on is still three long years away.

If you can wait till next spring how about a BMW 135? There really isn't much out there with the same priorities as the RX8, so no competition if you want something like it.

The s2000 shouldn't be an option, he might as well keep the 8, unless he's dying for a convertible with slightly more acceleration.
An Elise is out of the price range, unless he has a very broad price range.
Turbo or supercharge? If not, Evo.

The problem is that you own the best car in the price range. The only car I would want to upgrade to as a daily driver is an M3.
If you dont want to buck up keep the 8 and save your cash.

orrrrr if you are convinced to wait, get the new NSX. Yeah it'll be a pretty penny but you have all that time to save up. And maybe F/I your 8 during the time to spice it up.

Ahh, yes, that Toyota FT-HS concept is freakin' hot. That was another one I had my eye on, but I'll bet that is at least 5 years away. I suppose I should have mentioned I'm not a fan of the S2000, so I eliminated that one. And that BMW 135 is ugly as hell. I might as well just save up and wait for the Kabura or RX-7 or a revamped 8.
