Why I'm kidna glad out I'm out of the FC scene around here....

Too many 16 year old kids can afford them. There are actually a couple of guys that own em around here that are alright, but the rest of em are just punk kids. It's always about the street races. I've got the RX-8 shirt that was made by a fellow here, and wear it quite often. Whenever a person who owns an RX-7 sees me, they feel the need to challenge my 8 to a street race down the busiest road in town.

And of course, they usually ruin the car in the process of 'modding' it. Adding a boost controller to the S4 and adding a huge exhaust so now the thing boost spikes of damn near 20 PSI on stock everything, and say "It's oK, these engines are meant to hit high boost, it won't hurt them." It's people like that which give these cars a bad rep. Then the cone air filters in the engine bay, and call it a CAI...blah blah blah. There's already a very few 'clean' FC's around...they need to stop ruining them more

I'm kind of glad I'm aiming at getting an FD next. It's tough for little kids to get their grubby hands on em.

OK, whew, rant over. On a side note, I see a lot of clean FB's around here.

I actually don't know too many guys with FCs around here. I've run into a few of them on the road, and most of them are seem the street racing type, but for the most part have just revved at me and waved. I did see a black FC a couple of months ago that was one of the loudest cars I've ever heard on the street. He was on 95N and you could hear him for literally a mile... just unbelievably, earsplittingly loud. Granted it sounded nice because its a rotary, but I can't believe he doesn't have a giant stack of tickets for noise violation. I see even fewer FDs around, and all the ones I have seen are modded to hell and back. There is quite a nice stable of them up at PF Supercars where my car is at right now. Veilside FD RX-7 in silver and black etc.

The FD's look much better IMO. I'm not sure about the performance difference. But it's a shame that those kids are giving the FC a bad name. I'm afraid that's gonna happen to the 8 down the road.

I don't know.
Since the 8 has a "rep" of being "slow" I doubt it will be that big with street racers.

I never see anyone around here with an FC, and if I do, it's usually an older man driving it.

That's why I sold my FC too. That and I got $13k for it -- if it got stolen insurance wouldn't give me that much for it.

RX-8s are getting cheap enough for teenagers to get their hands on them. Ahem. They seem to be uncommon enough to avoid most of the ricers, though.

Lol, thankfully I never really look down there.

The most painful thing is I know who is driving and where it is most of the time, but there isn't a thing I can do about it.

I got so played

This is a long and complicated story, but it's completely my fault also. I am too trusting..

First guy 'sells' his car to second guy. First guy never signs the title off to second guy....so second guy has title in first guys name *That already sounds confusing...*

Second guy trades car to me. I get title in first guy's name still. Told that the first guy will sign over title. I signed the title of the RX-7 I was trading to second guy.

Before I could get a hold of first guy, he comes and snatches the car while I was at work.

So now I have a title in first guy's name....not exactly promising.

So 1st guy picked up the car he originally sold to the second guy from you. If I were you, I would wreck the crap out of that car and paste the title back on his hood after doing so. I would not let that slide.

Either I would give him an *** whooping, or his car. Either way I wouldn't walk away feeling non-gratified.

All karma, payback, pwning aside, you have the title in your hand still, no? I'd go to the police then with it. How is he going to argue you somehow magically got the title, he just let you borrow it? On top of that unless buyer #2 is a douchbag dizzler as well, have him for a witness. So do NOT let someone like that slide with thousands of dollars of your hard work going in their fun zone especially when you know who and where that person is.

Trust me, I wouldn't be sitting here with my thumb up my *** if I didn't have a choice.

I went to the police, reported it stolen. It's been well over 6 months. I still see him driving.

I contacted the second guy, who says he had no idea what happened and would love to help me get the car back. Let's just say I went through enough "OK, let me call you back" , "I lost your number" , "I lost your number again" , "Let me call you back." , *no response for weeks...*

I know I got played by them both. That's why I'll always stray people around here to not deal with either of them, as they are bad news. Most people already knew, I had to find out the hard way.

*EDIT* Also, I have a "Duplicate Title". Thief has the original. I guess it would be nice since I'll give him a bit of a headache when he goes to renew tags...

ALSO, I will not go wreck his ****. He knows where I live, and that's the last thing I want to do...bring more harm unto me/my property than has already occurred. These ******** are shifty douchebags.

I have an FB and an FC. I just bought the FC at the end of January and drove it from Cincinatti back here to Houston. It was right during those ice storms in Kentucky and I drove through it. Mine is a black '90 GXL. It's a nonturbo. The reason I bought it and went so far to get it is because it was completely stock. No mods at all. That was worth everything to me as no one has had a chance to mess it up. It's very rare to find a nice one that hasn't been screwed up.

I've messed with these things for a while now and this is my 3rd FC. I've been through the modding stage with them all. This one with the exception of a high flow cat and FD wheels is bone stock. I've even got the stock paper air filter in it! Incidentally I've been running intake tests with magnahelic gauges and various pressure taps and have found that the air flow meter is a larger restriction on the intake than the paper air filter is! What's the point of a cone filter that sits in a hot engine bay when the restriction is AFTER it?

I rarely see an FC anymore. I don't get many people trying to race either. A few do though but I let them go. I am saddened by the fact that I have yet to see a single RX-8 driver acknowedge me. If I see another RX-7 on the road, they'll seemingly go out of the way to give a thumbs up. It's a mutual bond with the 7 owners. The 8 people could typically care less and wouldn't know the heritage if it was lectured to them. It's sad really.

As far as trying to race an RX-8 in an FC, no one in a nonturbo FC better be trying that. The car was either 146 or 160 HP stock and had a quarter mile time from the factory, when driven well, of 16.1 sec. The stock TII could only muster a 15.1 stock so even it may not be a match against an RX-8 but it would be closer. You'd have to have a TII that was modded a little bit. Fortunately for them it takes nothing more than a free flowing exhaust and a fuel cut defenser to pull ahead of the RX-8 but any turbo car is easy to make fast.

If you guys ever think your RX-8's get poor fuel mileage just remember that your cars weight 300-400 lbs more than the RX-7s did, have more power by far than all but the FD, and have either a 4.44:1 or 4.77:1 rear end ratio as opposed to all but the auto RX-7's at 4.10:1 and you still get roughly the same gas mileage and you do it with a fraction of the emissions. The RX-8 is a really good car. Many RX-7 people just can't accept the fact that their cars are old technology. Even the FD's.

Honestly, I like FC's better than FD's
Never liked the looks that much and a big headache. I may be a bit ignorant about the FD (someone plz correct me if im wrong), but it's turbo's suck *** and screws up the whole car.

It's not really the turbo's causing any issues, it's a combination of issues. Ranging from poor cooling to the immense amounts of vaccuum pipes there for the "Sequential Turbo" making it a headache to do any real troubleshooting on. Good cars with some 'reliability mods' done to it.
