Wife Likes The New Charger RT
Well the kids are getting older and the minivan is going away. We still need a family sedan that seats 5. That's where the Charger came in. I told my wife about it and took her to see it. She loves it . Of course she is not into the Daytona decals (or the orange & yellow colors) , but they make an RT Road & Track Edition which is basically the same car without the trim :D . (The SRT8 is a bit out of control on the MPG & may end up with the gas guzzler tax). Loaded with all the goodies, this car is luxurious inside and aggressive looking outside. Not to mention 350 HP and 390 lb torque. Hopefully this comes to fruiton. This way I can have my RX8, all around sports car, and my Charger, knock you back in your seat powerhouse.
I haven't driven it yet, and neither has the wife. The final determination is whether she likes the way it drives since she will be the primary driver. Wish me luck.
Has anyone driven the car yet? What's your impressions?

I like the Charger. I 'm not into muscle cars, so I'd never buy one, but I saw one the other day and it turned my head. I think the wife will be pleased if she likes the way it drives. This site is full of hatas, but it is a nice looking car, so I hope it works out for ya.

If you actually want a muscle car you'd have to go for the V8 because the V6 is just like any other "regular" car that happens to have a V6.. not very "interesting" from what I've heard.... but from what you wrote you seem to be into the R/T V8 so its all good I suppose. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the car...its got lots of scoot...
but personally I dont like the angle they took with that car at all.... I respect it, but wouldnt be bothered with it.
There Viking, does that make me a Hata too? :D

I like the Charger--I rented one when I was out in Reno in July, albeit the 3.5L V6 with 250Hp. If I toyed with the idea of one I'd go for the ***** to the wall SRT8--then probably give up solid food cause I'd have to pay for gas. Oh yeah it does get gas guzzler taxed as the 6.1L don't have displacement disabler or whatever their acronym is (CDS I think)

American boat anchors......come on you guys can we say "sports cars"
GM made it's last great cars in 1970, since then they do not know what the public wants...with the exception of trucks and SUV's. Look close at the rubber maid interiors and the orange peel paint.......As a proud American, I am not proud of our cars.
In my fury and anger over GM I forgot what this post was about,
I am proud of Chrysler and the new cars they have been building for us....I am not a fan of pushrod engines but the 425 HP Hemi's rock and yes I love the 300, Magnum and Charger......oh but wait a minute...Mercedes-Benz bought Chrysler so it is not a American company anymore....time for more anger and fury.

They seem to be nice cars. But I work in the dealership ring locally, thay are having the same issues with over rating the horsepower output. many customer complaints after a few dyno runs.

salituro, stop kidding yourself... you know you want this for your other fun toy. Besides the similarity of weight at 4000lbs, I don't know how she would like going from a minivan to a muscle car (jk). Assuming you are at $30k price point, you and your wife should test drive other cars as well: Legacy GT, Mazda6 (mazdaspeed6 will be coming out end of month), 300C, Acura TL. The Charger looks good and has the power, but not something I wouldn't consider getting for my wife. It's too heavy and she doesn't need that much hp. Maybe you should give her your car and trade.

NO....I went through my Corvette stage, really bad construction, plastic rattle trap...when I was young I had several...all piles of *&^%. In those days if you had a Vette you had a lot of gold chains, hairy chest and a small *****. Now the Baller is hung like a horse so my next sports car was a 1982 Supra....wow what a change.
C6 or Z06? not world class players, cheap price per HP however.

i think its great bang for the buck. I think its 340hp, not 350. It complements the RX8 very well giving you a taste of ruthless power. I personally would go for a 298 hp g35 sedan 6mt that get from 0-60 under 6 secs and in the same price range because it handles real well too. Otherwise muscle cars always has their mystical allure. I personally really like the charger.
