The World Turns - Mazda Stands Still

hey
The redesigned Mazda 6 craps out excitement. To me it is one of the most exciting future models regardless of manufacturer. 270 hp 3.5 v6 with 6spd manual and AWD. I think you guys are Honda Fanbois looking for a fight

Im sorry, but there is NO zoom-zoom in any Mazda 3 at all, unless you have a Speed3. I've driven both the 2.0 & the 2.3(which we currently own) in both Sedan & Hatch(which we own) and they have ABSOLUTELY no zoom-zoom. That is unless you account for the fact they use practically the same guage pod as the RX8 but I think that is a common point in a lot of Mazdas right now. The 3 is not sporty what so ever..

Gee is this a surprise or what?
"Now we're looking for the next big thing," O'Sullivan says (president and CEO for MNAO http://media.ford.com/mazda/article_...icle_id=15143).
Is that a BIG slip of the tongue or has the CX-9 COTY award + great sales got them scouting around for something to mate with to give birth to the .. Stretch CX-11?

"Some wondered whether buyers would embrace a Mazda tickling $40,000, but sales are growing." {so many puns here}
We need to start an email campaign cluing him in to the "next big thing" we want.... like a bit more effort into the RX-8 (or something like it), perhaps move a model variant up market, along with giving it 100 more ponies via factory FI, and a new wave of buyers could be willing to part with 40 big ones for THAT too.

Gosh I forgot the best line in the whole story!! Shame on me
"The CX-9 was originally supposed to be a minivan," says Robert Davis, head of product development and quality for Mazda North American Operations.
OMFW
What OTHER secret tidbits has MNAO been withholding from the faithful?

A company caters to what sells the most, and if that is their SUV's than you can bet they'll advertise the pants off of them.
The RX-8 has put a dark image on Mazda thanks to the reliability issues and their own poor judgement making. Right now I doubt that it's high on their priority list to facelift a sports car that will have poor sales and questionable reliability.
Given Mazda's support to the SCCA and racing community, I doubt they're about to drop their sport car ideals any time soon. Just give it time and see what the future holds.
