Driving is a lot like having sex...all men think they are good at it.

I've taken a lot of driving courses that were on a track and on paper and I still don't consider myself a great driver. It takes years of track time and real world scenarios and situations to make you a great driver. I feel I am one with the car but that doesn't matter when your driving 50 and hit some black ice and go into a ditch.

I think the poll is a little ambiguous. The actual question is: What percentage of drivers do you think are capable, skilled performance drivers?

So are you asking what percentage of all drivers on the road are capable, skilled perfomormance drivers? As in they can drive skillfully in traffic, at the track and a twisty mountain road? Obviously this number is VERY low. Now if you take the word "performance" out, then the number goes up some, but probably not a whole lot.

There are a couple of 4-way stops just down the road from my place and very rarely do I pass through those intersections without getting pissed at someone who doesn't know how to navigate a simple 4-way.

I consider myself an above average/good driver. I can hold my own on the track, but I dont have nearly enough road course seat time(aside from Simulators) to consider myself a pro. I have lots of passes down the drag strip, but that just means I can shift.

To me it seems that most people on the road dont have the skills or common sense they should to be behind the wheel.

I agree with this completely.
