It looks nice, but I'm unimpressed with the 7.0 liter. I wish they did what was first rumored...stroke the LS2 out to a 6.3 liter. The C5 was a wonderful car and the Z06 took that grunty V8 and let it breathe, it really increased the higher rev power. I hope this is wrong and Chevy doesn't follow in Dodge's footsteps. I really hate what the Viper is, sure it looks nice but under the hood is nothing too impressive to me. To each his own.
P.S. The C6 Z06 does look really badass. :D

There are like 5 pictures posted on ClubRsx if anyone wants to look.
Here's the link

I think it's the 3rd post, and only the bottom set of links work, at least for me.

I surely hope the Corvette engineers can put a 427 CI V8 in its Z06. It would truly be a beast, as if the normal one wasn't already.

I didn't mean to say that I didn't want more displacement. I just don't want it to turn in a car that only makes power until 4000 rpms. Now I'm sure that won't happen but eh, I loved the C5. I love the styling of the C6 and nothing wrong with 400hp. I'm just hoping it doesn't turn into a Viper. We'll see I guess.
About the yaw moment, still don't know how to figure that out but understand the concept, and I agree, I don't care too much about weight just don't want Chevy to sell out the good name of the Corvette. Of course I'll still love the car even if they do :p

Finally they are going to make it as a "coupe" edition, with the same fast back style as the "regular" Corvette, Instead of the "hardtop"/non-hatchback appearance. This is night & day.

Best part is, I've heard that it's based on a reinforced version LS-series block so it shouldn't be too much heavier than the 5.7L versions of this engine. Might be the first manual Corvette to be slapped with a gas guzzler tax, though, but that all depends on how the gearing is set up for this car.

Ya I don't like the painted headlights in yellow...but imagine in black hottness....
Honestly with the cost of this car, and its performance specs, they really should offer it in some sort of radar absorbing paint .

turbo motors with bigger turbos is the same idea, is this somehow cheating?? the "hp/L" arguement is a ricer thing, the best measure would be something like hp/lb or hp/engine volume (in those things that germans use to determine how big a trunk is, something like that i guess).
stroking a motor is a little more difficult than "throwing in" a bigger crank and rods 'cause of all the stuff that has to clear inside of the chev small block (everything is so knit together). besides that, remembering that this car has to be made and sold for profit, and has a niche as the affordable all-american sportscar, using highly exotic materials and production processes not applicable to GM's other cars and motors is for the most part out of the question, so doing the most with what you have is a part of making a great car. this is one pretty darned neat motor (although i've yet to learn much about what makes it different from the LS6).

wow, PCK just checked your link. 2900lbs (small wheelbase and overall length too!), 7000 rpm redline (so peak power around 6.5k ish), and i was curious to find out how many cube 7.0L's are... 427????? OUT OF A SMALLBLOCK??? holy fargging schmit. that's rediculously impressive. this thing is going to make power like a muthaf*cka.
those 70cc combustion chambers are going to make for some hellaciously huge valves too, eh?

I always wonder if there would be a significant improvement had GM used 4-valve cylinder heads while still utilizing the OHV design...

On another note, what good does using sodium-filled exhaust valves other than creating an alloy?
I figured the engine would be made by Katech. I tried contacting them for an internship to which they haven't replied; that was 3 years ago.

I can't wait to see the comparo between the next 911 Turbo and Z06. GM says the Vette will run to 60 in 3.5sec--the last 911 Turbo S was able to do it in 3.6sec. so the more powerful '06 model should be quicker. Porsche always rates their performance specs conservatively.

Dre I actually read 3.8 for this Z06 to 60 and I thought the 911 Turbo was 3.9? Nobody has mentioned the 1/4 times either, they're claiming 11.3 which I don't think matches up with the 0-60 time they're getting.
This is ALOTTA car for around 70K.

That's the thing--Porsche specs are conservative. According to Porsche the last 911 Turbo S is a 4.0sec 0-60mph; however magazines have repeatedly gotten 3.6s-3.8s times. According to Autoweek the Z06 will get to 60 in 3.5seconds. Either way the Z06 is off tha chain; however I wish they would have done a little bit more to differentiate it from lesser C6s.
