True. The Eclipse that I own is simply for show. That is all. I replaced the stock wing with that wing from Shine Street because my old wing was cracked in an accident. I hated the stock one.
My RX-8 has no stickers (other than my clubname and sponsors) and no outrageous wing (although I have a MintBlue C/F wing sitting here in my office).
The MintBlue wing is very tasteful.

never saw an "old" man driving a vette....seen a lot of people enjoying them..and a lot of people staring at them though...b/c they look pretty damn sweet. I think you are the first person i've every read/heard of who really didn't like the vette. Too bad they are a great car.

You see older people driving these cars most of the time because older people are the only ones that can typically afford them
I'd drive this car over my RX-8 anyday.... I just don't have $75,000 laying around at the moment. Flame away, but this car is superior to the RX-8 in about every way (remember, I drive one myself). Who cares how you get the power, as long as the car is a complete package.

Also, please explain why the pushrod design of this motor is inferior? I'm talking about power, weight, fuel consumption, reliability, external dimensions, things you can measure. Hint: "new" is not a valid reason for re-engineering something. Putting square wheels on your car would be "new", but hardly an improvement.

BTW I'm 28.
Your pic is pretty funny, but save the smartass ghetto whitetrash bullshit for someone else.
My buddy has 2 Ferraris and he isn't a drug dealer either smartass. He's the president of 3 insurance companies that he and his family founded on their own.
BTW, he's also 26.
There are several people that I know of that are far from the baggy pants, crooked hat, piercings in their face part of my generation that would never think of owning own a pos stock CRX like the one in that photo, and would rather be driving an imported Skyline than a Corvette. We have more disposable income than most people twice our age. We are successful people. We're becoming or already are doctors, lawyers accountants etc.
So you can take that picture and shove it up your ***. I'll take my "riced out" RX-8 and Eclipse with huge wing and ghey *** graphics any day over the true all american "old man's car".

lol, this stuff is too funny.
Just to remind you, this car isn't out yet, so you couldn't have one. :p
and when your wife wants an 8 and you want an fx45, then you get the 8, thats not a compromise, thats just doing what she says :p haha, kidding.
All jokes aside, how did your buddy build the capital to start insurance companies? I might have to investigate that avenue.

Man, this is funny. You do not speak for any generation. You speak for your own idiotic self. Get that straight first.
Second, you are impressing absolutely no one by saying you can afford this or that. If you get your kicks from trying to boast on an internet forum board, where lying is just as easy as speaking the truth, continue to do so, and I'll continue to think you are an idiot.
Third, by disproving the stereotypes listed before, you only prove his point that the corvetter isn't an "old man car".
Fourth, there's nothing that is going to be able to touch the Z06 for the price. That's the truth. There's nothing antiquated about the engine in the Z06. Pushrod engines were actually developed after over head cam, but that doesn't really mean much either. It's all about the output of the engine, the size/weight of it, and gas mileage. Hp/l is nothing but an irrational and lame excuse for those driving lower displacement cars in an attempt to justify their *** getting kicked.
Grow up.

The new Corvettes are definitely more attractive than the older ones. One thing that always surprised me was how badly the Corvettes age. When you see a guy in a older 911, I think classic. When I see a guy in a 70's & 80's (even 90's Corvette it looks about as good as a worn out bowling ball. I love the early & mid- 60 Corvettes, but after that (until the C5's) they were not good cars. The new Z06 is awfully competitive with any car out there. Period. I heard the new car will be in the $75K-$80K range. Quite a big jump from the previous model, but then again a 100 hp gain.
I wonder how you can compare the Corvette with any Jpanese sports cars. The price range just doesn't match up. With the decent options you are looking in the $50K range for the Corvette. The Japanese cars are in the $30K range. Can you really compare a $30K car to a $50K car ? I would think the more comparable comparisons would be the Mustang GT.
BTW, in talking with the dealer the average demographic for the Corvette is a 52 year old, caucasian, 6 ft. male. In case anybody wonders where the "old man" stereotype comes from.

And yes, dealers are notorious for telling nothing but truth and not talking out of their ***. *rolls eyes*
Even if what they said it remotely true, why should I care? It kicks ***, no matter what the average demographic is.

hmmm you like the look of the 60's vette (stingray?)...i thought they kept the stingray design until about 84 (stingrays look sweet)....but you can't really compare how a 911 from the 70's look to a vette from teh same era...b/c look sare all subjective. if you want to loko at performance just look at how many times the 911 and teh vette have gone toe to toe in motor trend mag. (i believe the vette has one the last few times in the 40 year match up). both are great cars and both lay down the same numbers...the vette just costs less (the new one is a pretty big jump in price 56k to about 70k +...but you do get a car that lays down some crazy numbers. 500 hp 475 tq. and it weights in at 3175lbs. that makes for a stupid fast car (ie vipper killer ford gt contender). but i'm not really saying anythign new...all you can do is through up some fact and hope someone sees the light instead of the reflection on the cave wall

I don't see how this guy can argue against facts. The Z06 isn't even close to being in the same league as the Eclipse and RX-8. There's a reason why the Z06 dominates the SCCA. You simply cant beat the numbers it puts down with any other car in that price range. I admit that I don't care much for American cars, but the Corvette is an exception. It is a TRUE sports car. As someone pointed out, the reason why you see old people driving them is because they're the ones that can afford them. If the Skyline was sold here (or when it is sold here) people probably still wouldn't buy it if it couldn't beat the Corvette, especially if it costed more. If the Z06 doesn't impress you, that obviously means that performance doesn't matter much to you.

That said I think the new Z06 looks pretty sweet, and it should be a monster. If it comes in at $75K to $80K that is tough though.

oh and the c6 z06 has the same lb/hp as the ford GT ($150,000) and the Mersedes-Benz SLR McLaren ($455,500). 6.3lbs/hpnot too shabby.
Oh and the new skline gtr is rummored to be in the $70,000+ price range. haha so i guess it's going to be teh same type of drivers as teh vette that youll find in the skyline

From those preliminary numbers, the Z06 may once again dominate circuits everywhere. I don't understand the negative sentiment towards this car. It's over 50 years old, and it just keeps getting stronger. For the money, I would most definitely invest in it. Who wouldn't? I'm glad to see that GM is starting to up the ante on its one true sports car. I knew when they introduced the 2004 Z06 with its carbon fiber hood, that one would expect more lightweight materials in future models. Sweet. :D

If you look at the specs of the vehicle and the changes they have made to the look and feel, I don't see how you can not like it. To each his one though. One thing is clear, there is no way you can't respect it. There is no better bang for the buck. When you have a car at this price which can run with Ford GT's, Enzo's, Carrera GT's and SLR McLarens, how much better does it get than that?
