Bad= TDot/Stoptech
Hi. I just wanted to put this out there in case anyone is considering purchasing for the Canadian company T.Dot, specifically Stoptech products.
I purchased a full axel pac, front and rear Stoptech slotted rotors, sport pads and SS brake lines in Aug 2020. I finally receieved them in Oct 2020. The front rotors coated in a gold(cyro?) finish while the rears are plain( which is what I ordered). 3 times they agreed to exchange the fronts and later reneged, saying the finish will wear off.
When I explain that it only wears off where to pad makes contact, they tell I can remove the finish in the slots with a scotchpad. I reply that if they want to send someone out to do that, fine. If not send me what I ordered. There's 57 pages of emails with this nonsense. I hesitate to attempt to remove the finish and it go south, then I have no recourse. A brake shop assures me there is no way to remove that coating without scatching up the face of the rotors, reducing pad contact.
I'm at the end of my patience with these clowns.

I get that it's not what your ordered, but that gold finish is just corrosion protection. Yes it will wear off on contact surfaces and keep non-contact ones from rusting. 10 miles in it will not matter.
Any scratches you add while removing the coating will be worn down in short order by your pad, assuming you use fine grit sandpaper. When changing pad compounds its recommended to sand the disc to remove transfer layer from the old pad. It's nothing serious.
Cryo is something else entirely, that's a metallurgical process.
