Updated my first post in thread after getting everything running again and having time to think about the situation and consider the words from Kevin at Rotary Resurrection.

Thanks BigCajun. I'll have to check some of them out. I know people frown upon it here but I'm thinking I might do it myself. I need a new rear rotor due to broken side seals but after the new rotor is in my hands I'm going to try my hand at it. I like a little challenge. I'm tired of playing with piston engines. Just too boring and everything sounds better at 9k rpm lol

I don't know how quickly healthy Renesis engines tend to decline but here's what the engine that Omar "rebuilt" for me is doing...
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...6d3d8f1030.png
The motor was rebuilt Jan/Feb 2016 at 51,792 miles.
Omar told me to send it back to him Jan 2017 at 60,765 miles (after I complained about intermittent hot start issues and low compression, first data point on the chart).
He returned it to me (after charging me $600 and telling me it's perfectly fine for a Renesis to have those compression numbers). I got it back into the car May 2017 after fixing a bunch of stuff that he damaged. I measured the second set of data points in June 2017 after driving it around a bit.
The final set of data points were this afternoon at 64,501 miles.

NotAPreppie, thank you for sharing again, feel your pain, but it will help the few of us that value the insights and experiences from member here. I for one will not be considering them for any work ever.

Thank you for this post which has effectively eliminated any consideration I may have had to choose you for my pending engine replacement, which was already tenuous at best.

My initial reaction was to delete it for trolling but instead we shall let it remain in this thread for other to see who they could potentially be doing business with.

really, you guys are going to get all torn over that silly reply? It’s not like he had a scorched earth meltdown.
For all you know it’s not even who they say they are. Anybody can choose that username if open, make an account, and then proceed to claim to be the owner. Frankly you should all know better than to assume you’re fully informed.
Honestly though, this forum is so dead, not to mention all the full-tards who hang out at Purely RX8 on FB rather than here, that it likely makes *zero* impact regardless even if it is the owner.
