Update:

Things are moving forward on this guy, hes avoiding members in his unit to get out of paying people back or providing any shipping receipts. Im taking it to legal action now for you guys. The owner of the paypal account who is in his unit is also involved and will be bringing it up to law enforcement with the military.

For all those involved, please send him anything you have saved, from your paypal transaction number, to the dates you had all contact and transactions with him. Any saved pm's would help too. Best bet is to throw everything on a Word document, and just send it directly to the email address provided above. Everyone involved make sure to do this as soon as you can so that you can help these guys who lost 1000k+, and get your money back... Ill work on the rest, and continue to keep all you guys posted..Thanks

Heres part of what he sent me today...

" Please forward me the posts from you guy's forum, so that I may get an assessment of exactly how much money is involved and how many people. From the transactions involving my Paypal account, I have 7 individuals and just under $2500 worth of transaction which he never delivered on, which I am now stuck with and responsible for. Also, a notarized statement giving an account for what happened, particualrly the date you enetered the tranaction, the amount you sent and the goods promised, would also greatly help to foster a case through JAG and the local police department and courts on my end."

Yeah, I sent our Rx-8 PM conversation, our phone conversation and the paypal transaction.

I'm really surprised that it has gone this far.

I was a dummy and let these shenanigans go on for 3+ weeks. Yeah, he kept good rapport until after I bought a second part.

I'm not sure how to get electronic documents notarized as he requested, but I just emailed reignjohn@yahoo.com my PM conversations and PayPal receipts for $170.

^thanks guys.

UPDATE- Refund of my money has went through in paypal. All the disputes should have forced paypal to investigate, and automatically debit Marlon's account for the balance. It didnt go back to my paypal balance, but transfered right back to my credit card. Everyone involved check your end and see if it did the same. Some transfers may take more time than others depending on how you paid. People should start seeing some money coming back...

All the info has been presented to his unit, the base MP's, and the local police department. Ive been assured that it will be taken care of, and he is going to get pretty harsh punishment, and criminal charges for everything..itll just take some time to get through the appropriate chain of command and legal departments. Hope that makes some people feel better, I will keep up on it though and update when they do apply the charges. Thats it for now

I was not involved with this transaction but I just wanted to take a minute to applaud shakeyourbrakes for his work in helping to get resolution here.

Good job man, I'm glad you guys are being taken care of and that this guy is getting the punishment he deserves.

I received my credit after following up on the PayPal dispute. Did you do a PayPal dispute? What is the date that PayPal says that Marlon has to respond by? Basically in my situation ( which I think is how it works) a paypal dispute was filed... he has a certain time frame to respond by. Then even if he stated that he wanted to give you a refund, the refund doesn't get credited to you until that time period expires. It then took 7days to show up on my CC. I will admit that I did go to my local police to press charges on both of them and the police did inform them of the dispute. I did get my $1600 back and I wish the best for you.

Paypal got back to me a few days ago regarding all these disputes, some are going to take more time than others to credit back. They contacted me and got all the details and information about everything to verify that all these disputes were legit. Hope they keep coming in soon.

well, Im glad you guys seem to be getting $$ back, and DAMN glad you contacted his Command on your own.... because none of the above is remotely the appropriate response were this superior of his doing the right thing. Gathering statements and data is of absolutely NO use to any NCO or supervisor in this kind of legal matter. LE would take complete control of such a situation. His immediate supervision has absolutely nothing to do or say towards garnishing pay, or any other judicial or non-judicial punishment. Sounds a LOT like this guy was being sheltered and protected.

I understand the idea of taking care of your troops, been there done that. But there are lines that should not be crossed, and this would be one of them. Some one mentioned the ideal of not having us judged by the select fews actions... unfortunately in my experience working with and around all the services this kind of thing is all too common. Most of you would have stomachs turned were I to tell you many of the things I've seen personally. No one should have the mindset to doubt what some of us do and risk for the rest of the citizens at home, but I wouldnt dare argue with anyone who had a negative opinion of the moral standing of our services as a whole.

Realistically, being in the service doesn't make you a better person. Just because you sign on the dotted line doesn't mean that you automatically become the savior of humanity. A lot of enlisted personnel join because they don't really have any other option, so in my opinion you actually have less trustworthy people in the military than the normal populace that goes to college and then finds a career.

I've known some shitty machinists while I worked as one before I joined, so does that mean all machinists are shitty as we should judge them as such? Being in the military is just a job to a lot of people, so don't put this magical label on them and expect that them to be model citizens.

Bottom line, anyone can be shitty, regardless of vocation. Being in the military just makes it easier to catch them hahaha.
