Burned by someone in Texas

Some dude named Alan on this site advertised seats. I sent a text to see if they were still available, he said yes and gave me a price: $275. Leather, from a 2004 GT. Black and red, electric.

So I sent him a moneygram from Walmart. Paid $275 cash by way of that moneygram.

That was over two months ago. Do you think I ever saw the seats? Heck no. I was robbed. He says, "I'm just the mechanic." Says he removed the seats from this girl's car, and that woman was supposed to ship the seats.

No tracking numbers, no word. I've texted this dude several times, have his address. But he's "just the mechanic." The chick is the problem.

So, buyer beware, huh. I'm out $275. No seats. That's what I mean by "burned by someone in Texas." Dude, if you're reading this, be ashamed of yourself. Be very, very ashamed. You're a party to a fraudulent deal. You or that woman got my money. I got nothing except grief in return.

I just hope anyone who buys from anyone on this site doesn't get burned like I did. Will the seats every show up? Who knows. Were they every shipped? The woman says they were.

So what, they got lost in shipment? I doubt it. Unless it takes 3 months to ship seat from Texas to Southern California. What the heck. I'm not mad. I've finally just accepted the fact that I'll probably never see those seats.

Just wish I could get my money back.

Tom

P.S. If anyone out there has my seats, man up and send my way, okay? They're mine!!!

Dude, are you new to online shopping or something? never, EVER pay ANYTHING by money order/wire transfer ... cuz those are pure cash and once its in someone else's hands, there is almost nothing you can do to get it back.

let this be a lesson, be smart next time !

No, paypal is terrible when scams arise. Use a credit card by way of Paypal if you must.

OP did you ever hear of Paypal? They guarantee delivery of what ever you purchase or your money will be refunded. Never, ever send money orders. As others have stated money grams are no different than cash. I hate to say this because I know you don't want to hear it but you live and you learn.

fixed. I know it happened to my friend that he received a box with a 10lb weight inside instead of what he purchased and paypal did nothing to help him. I've also heard crazy stories on the other end of the spectrum though.

This thread doesn't make much sense:

Were these seats supposed to be $275 INCLUDING shipping ? In the event of truly being 'burned' what you want to do is tell us all the online name of the perpetrator so we can scrutinize that person and decide whether others should be careful and/or avoid them.

My 2 cents.

Paul.

I guarantee that this is Alan Simmons aka AJ from kileen Texas. Also known as tyrantkill on these forums with his girlfriend bibird08 or something similar to that, not really sure the exact username of her. They are the two that did a 2004 part out and screwed members here out of thousands...

Stephen

If you want his phone number, email, her email and even his address I have it all.

I CANNOT AGREE MORE.

UNLESS PURCHASES ARE MADE THROUGH EBAY YOU ARE NOT COVERED BY PAYPAL.

People need to let go of the false sense of security paypal provides. I F'ing hate paypal for the policies on scams. They write it off as your problem and they will "investigate" but nothing ever comes of it.

Credit Cards are the only way to go via paypal.

Ripoff artist

This guy, Alan Simmons, was paid for these seats on July 5, 2010.

He goes by the name "AJ". (That's not a name, that's initials.)

So, thanks everyone for posting what you have so far. This guy is named Alan Simmons. If he's military, he should be ashamed. If our military guys are like him, then we're all in a world of hurt in this country. I have his address, and two phone numbers. He used to respond to my text messages, now he ignores me. Maybe he's on duty or something. I don't know. He's my only contact.

He claims, "I'm just the mechanic." But he's party to this scam, if it really is a scam. I really hoped there would be somebody who knows him who could somehow find out why he's done this deed. He blames the girl.

It was a 2004 being parted out. I didn't know others were being ripped off. He claims he doesn't anything beyond removing the seats, then says he gave them to the girl, who claims she shipped them.

Then he says later that the girl has gone missing. Just took off or something. Her name is Alyssa Michelle Johnson, Killeen Texas.

Here's a transcript from a conversation with him by text on July 31, 2010:

Me: "Alan. I need the tracking number. Can you help me please? No seats. No word."

Alan: "Alright man I've been trying to get in touch with her and get everything. I talked to her husband 2 days ago. He hasn't saw her either."

Me: "Was I robbed?"

Alan: "I don't know. I know other people have gotten the parts."

The last thing he says to me on that day, July 31, nearly a month ago, was this:

"Ya man I got u covered." (What the heck does that mean?)

So there you go. Or there I go, dollars missing. It's okay, the seats are probably in shitty shape anyway, and now I really don't even want them. I just want my money back.

rodjonathan, if you know this dude Alan, PM me or something, or email me. I don't care if everyone knows my email address: tagrn@***.net

I appreciate everyone's words on this. When you think you're in with a decent crowd, and you can trust folks, then something like this happens, it really sucks. I can afford the loss, I just don't like thinking people are taking advantage. I still hope it was a mixup somehow.

So, to conclude:

Alan Simmons
3205 Toledo Drive, Apt C
Killeen, TX 76542
(254)813-8836
(254) 462-2199

No response to my texts any longer since July 31. And thus ends the sorry saga. I should have know better when he said "use WalMart." That should have tipped me off. Damn. I'm the fool here, huh. Whatever. Live and learn.

This wasn't done online. It was done by text message. But the lesson is the same and learned. Thanks.

as much as i would like to agree with you from all the horror stories i hear about paypal i havent gotten anything but good service.

i bought [or so i thought] a Greddy sp2 from a forum member and the girl "subie_girl" [i think] said she had it even had pics, but for weeks i just kept getting excuses and it was like that for a month. then i decided to post on this forum and some of the guys suggested just filing a claim through paypal. within a week i got my money back which was around $350 [couldnt remember the exact amount] but even then it was done through my paypal funds, no credit cards.

on top of that the guys on here are pretty awesome, they found out a lot about this guy[girl] from his facebook page, home address with google streetview, his high school, and even his home number. it was awesome! not that i condone it but, if your going to rip someone off, then you deserve it.
