Charles R. Hill.......my opinion of him.

What should I say about this guy?? He's a son of a....

Just kidding! I wanted to take a minute and give a long overdue shout out to this guy. I had some major problems with my 8 after a botched clutch replacement job by some local guys. When shopping for clutches, I chose to go with THMotorsports over BHR for a few dollars savings....big mistake.

To make a long story short, after replacing my clutch and when my problems began, I called THMotorsports. Their 'instant' advice was to drive my car until the noises disappeared. Thankfully, I kept looking for answers. This is where CRH stepped in and from helping me on my posts along with PM's with helpful tips, he went all the way and met me in person - in California. The problem was most unusual and he promptly arranged for me to bring in my car to a friend's garage - Project Import - in Anaheim, CA where they fixed the problem. It ended up being a completely botched re-installation of my PPF along with shoddy reassembly of some of the peripherals.

He did this all for free and without expectation. He did this knowing I had gone with another useless company for my clutch kit.

Just wanted to say Thank You.

Can you be more specific about your install issues? I'm curious about how one can "improperly" install a PPF. After all it is a simple bracket (albeit heavy and large). It is held on by a total of 9 large nuts/bolts...and bottom line it is either installed or not, I can't see much room for error with that as long as all fasteners are installed to proper tightness.

Just like it is kind of hard to install a wheel improperly on this car...again it is either bolted on securely, or not, but there's really no way to misalign it.

But yes, give us more details about your specific problems and what you think cured those problems, and which parts were found to be improperly installed and in what way. This may help others in the future, and it will serve to satisfy my own curiosity.

After all, clutch jobs aren't that hard on this car. In fact this is one of the simpler cars to do a clutch job on.

Surprised they didn't tell you to start double clutching and stop Granny shifting....

Charles is a cool guy always willing to help, he just talks to damn much.

In all seriousness glad you got it figured out.

I'm just going to comment cause I've dealt with both these entities:

CRH: no doubt, goes way out of his way to provide knowledgable and personal advice. Buy stuff from him, and he goes out of his way to support it. Awesome.

TH Motorsports - they fall into the broad category of "great if there aren't any problems and they actually have the part in stock". Never mind that "ships in 5-7 days" is code for "a long time ago we agreed to have a supplier for this and can probably get it for you, but we might not have it at all. I had an issue where there was essentially not a single one of the part I needed anywhere in the country, backordered from the factory. (listed as "ships in 5-7 days" mind you). What they SHOULD have done is said, we're sorry we dont have it, let me refund your credit card. But instead there was just promises and actual deception about when it would ship. I don't trust them after that. Price was amazing but the whole episode means I don't advise using them.

I got nothing but good things to say about Ray.

I've had several unsolicited phone calls from Ray to help me with problems I was trying to resolve via forum posts.
None of those problems had anything to do with stuff I had purchased or he had installed.

Nuff said if you ask me

Edit:

Now you know what's it like when a Vendor was deleteing posts.

Know one could give an honest opinion.

BTW,

Charles R Hill is honest and has integrity.

Something you don't find much now a days especially in the corporate world when money is all that counts.

CHR is a Vendor and he was the one that deleted his own posts. He does that from time to time.
