Good Guy: Charles Ray Hill (BHR)

So before I go get another compression test, I need a set of brand new plug wires so the dealer won't keep using that as a reason for my troubles, and since they will be transferred to the new (assuming all goes well), I order an upgraded set from BHR (MSD wire set).

Then Ray finds out that the boots for the wires were not properly ordered, and there will be a delay, so I ask about alternatives, as I am in a great window for being without my car (no events, no travel, etc), and want to take advantage of it for the dealer engine replacement. He hunts around, and finds he is just 1 boot short of a full set from other parts laying around, so I ask about if there are any wire sets of any brand available.

He then ships me a <not to be mentioned> set, and when I ask if Paypal is fine for the difference in the cost, he tells me he will refund it if I send it.

We then get into a bit of an arguement, where I am insisting on paying the difference because I want him to make money on them, and not take a loss (after all, we want him to stick around the boards ), and him insisting that I will do no such thing.

I even considered giving the money to his wife when I am there for a night just prior to Sevenstock, since I am sure she wouldn't turn down cash (no woman will).

But then I realized that might be taken exactly the wrong way

It ended up that I am still unable to send him the money for the difference and I have a set of plug wires better than I paid for.

He asked me to send friends his way for business instead, and since all my friends that had a chance at falling in love with the 8 already have, and are/were already customers of BHR, I figured I would do this, but it clearly isn't enough.

I guess I will just have to keep buying stuff from him. Maybe if I slip in some extra pennies every order, it will be difficult to refund that way?

Any other ideas to get this revolutionary in line?

Thanks again Ray.

Upgraded BHR fuel pump? There's always another mod available.

BHR certainly does personify ol' school customer service!!

Can we flame this as being a repost? I'm sure I've heard similar exemplary tales of BHR customer service before. I'd hate for the forum to turn into "Charles is awesome" spam.

Yeah, I wanted to up his traderscore from the transactions we've had, but you need a thread to do it

Thanks again Charles!

I ran into the same situation with my fuel pump. I think Charles purposely tries to lose money so he can keep collecting welfare cheques.
It's the only reasonable explanation!

Oh I know why you do it Ray...

It's just a revolutionary concept, and you know how the bureaucrats fear those dangerous ideas! We can't have our youth running around with crazy ideas like responsibility, customer service, and caring!
