Potentially useless interjection but someone working for the shipping company may have noted the insurance value and opened it trying to determine if there was something they could steal. Then they just repackaged and let it move through the system.

If I have a high value item shipped to me I usually take a pic of the box before opening and then immediately after opening so if I have a beef with UPS/FedEx/USPS or the shipper it can be resolved pretty quickly.

Obviously whoever did it wasn't mechanically inclined or they wouldn't have broke it.

I don't know what happened in this situation, but there's no way you should be paying out of pocket for something being damaged needlessly if it's not your fault and you can prove that.

That's pretty nice of him to do that I think.

MM said he shipped it UPS. My son is a manager at UPS and if you knew the proceedures they go through there, you would know that that is impossible.

At points in the packages journey I'm sure you're 100% correct. UPS would have bigger issues if it wasn't. But at the start (UPS store, authorized shipping outlets, etc.) and the finish line (the driver, post dropoff) is where they do have occasional problems. If reported UPS can usually figure out where incidents occur and people get fired but they do occur.

If it was damaged by shipping why didn't you file a claim with UPS?

And Jeff is right, the fins were bent out. That doesn't happen by something pushing on them. It could only happen if you took it apart, sorry.

There is NO WAY Jeff should have paid out of pocket for your mistake. Even if somehow shipping damaged it.

I've bought my turbo upgrade and my AP from Jeff and he's a 1,000,000% stand-up guy. When I got shipped the wrong injectors Jeff gave me a set of his 730s and didn't expect any cash. That's the kind of man he is.

I think it would be better for you if you just deleted this thread

I watch Jeff build these things all the time and he is very careful about the way they are packed and shipped.
As for having the turbine veins bent out,, that's a new one on me. It looks like they were pried on with a screwdriver. WTF!
I feel the same about Jeff having to buy this guy a new turbo. I feel he should not have to do it. It should be covered by shipping insurance. It was not damaged when it left his care.

Turbo came damaged, PERIOD. I even took pictures the very same day I got the turbo and opened it to inspect it. Contacted MM that very same day, with pictures. WHY THE F*CK WOULD I TAKE IT APART AND BREAK IT? It's like me saying he sent it damaged already, which I didn't and kept it to myself. Anyways, MM did comply and repaired the turbo, but him not answering emails, which is what I stated is what I am complaining about. Him accusing me of taking apart the turbo and breaking it, I dont know about that... Then you have his, lets call them "followers" talking out of their ***** because they have no idea what's going on... Read the 1st thread gentlemen THEN start talking your shtuff...

I posted some pics. It looks like it was dropped before installing actually if you look at picture you can see if it was done with a screwdriver it would be markings on the other blade and/or housing. I failed to take pics of the turbo's box to see if it did have a hole where maybe the wastegate's bar could have done the damage. I did not accuse anybody but shipping, and I will not let anybody accuse me of doing something I didn't do, specially breaking something I waited for and was looking forward to receiving.

And yes, thank you MM and Charles for responding, even if it ended ugly I at least know I was being taken care of and that I didn't just throw $1890 out the window, which made me over-react but it's not just $20 we are talking about here.

Jedi, I asked MM what he wanted to do, if he wanted to contact the shipping company or what. He said to just send the turbo back to him.

So why didn't you make an insurance/shipping damage claim? Was the box damaged? I would have taken pics of that too. What did it look like?

And all I said is, "It looks like they were pried on with a screwdriver". Did I say you did it? No. Relax.

and who might this so called FAnboy be?
No doubt Bastage was referring to me...next time be sure to include my name.

you started this thread to try and leverage MM into action, don't turn around now and get pissy when you're the one who made this public

laythor I was pissed from the beginning of the post, don't know what you are yapping about there buddy.

I did what I was told to do by MM, sent it back to him. Would you have reported it to UPS even if MM would have told you to send it back to him?

Nope. I would have taken pics of the damaged unopened box first, then told UPS about it, and then if and only if UPS wouldn't do anything about it then I would see if MM would do anything to rectify the problem.

I don't recall the box having any damage on the outside. I will check and give update on that. What if no damage is on outside of box?

Hmmm, from now on I will open the box in front of carrier and make sure content is ok.
