In this case the customer decided to wait for the new version in exchange for no additional R&D costs Chris. I keep track of the new more expensive components, the extensive man hours of R&D and additional costs and hope it all works out in the end.
BTW the customer is scheduled to pickup his car next week!

I scheduled the pickup. The car will be picked up on July 10th, with or without a dyno.

wow, come on guys, lets keep it professional here. I dont see a reason to be bashing Scott on this level. Its one thing to be pissed. 12 months+++ is a long time to go without your pride and joy. But mazsports got a lot going on right now. This isnt the only car theyve had there, i agree vicki you should be upset and its good that you have now put them under a timeline. But my question is why didnt you say 5 months ago. Ok i want my car done by x date in contract. It seems to me like this is a case where "i want a custom job done, i want it different then the other kits out there, im willing to wait" then 5 months later your saying ok i dont want to wait hurry up and finsh it.
Ive been in the same situation *not with mazsport* it sucks. but in the long run everyone learns lessons. Scotts not a bad guy and definately not a crook, he just is a perfectionist and sometimes can spend too much time, and a lot of us dont like it.
I feel like scott took alot a time on this car for a reason, he knew you were going to be showing it, and he took great pride/time in making this the nicest install probably on the forum. IMO
good luck and cant wait to hear about what you think of it.

I know some of what was going on last summer to start the initial delays but it's not my story to tell. Personally, I would not have taken delivery of the car until I had all the components there to turn the car around. Had that happened, Vicki and Roland would have the exterior of their 8 finished before they shipped the car down and the T2 kit would have been a few months closer on the horizon.
I can't say this type of scenario is unique to Mazsport. I have seen it from a lot of small company shops with grandiose plans. On one side you have people who put a lot of time, effort, and thought into the cars they work on and love what they do. Sometimes, they need to bite the bullet and actually finish the car. For this car, that time was probably in December or shortly after the ignition upgrade was viable.
On the other hand, though, you have the almost-chop shops who will crank out your car in a week and you'll find stuff wrong with it for months. They just want your money and to get rid of you.
My suggestion for Mazsport, because I do love the ideas and solutions they come up with and I'd like to be a customer again some day, would be to hire someone who is not a car enthusiast - someone to watch the clock and organize. Launch your new products as bulk buys where you want to sell X units and the expectation of the group is that it will take a couple months to get product. Set agreed upon deadlines with people getting extensive work and provide them with thorough feedback at least once a week. When something happens to make a deadline impossible, set a new deadline negotiated with the customer. Lastly, remember that there is always something more to be done to a car so at some point you have to declare a job finished.

Enough said guys...They r taking their car finished so we shouldnt say anything more than good summer rides..
I m sure they ll be crazy when they ll drive it again so everything will be past and i know how they feel cause after 11months i m taking my car again from exterior-interior jobs and several times i was sooooo pissed that i could "kill" but no1 cant predict how much time they need for a custom job they ll do for a first time...

Vicki's car should look a lot more like Blue Monster's 8 did when he posted shots last year (probably in the mazsport t2 thread in the mazsport forum). I have a very low bling approach to car building. However, should I put in a little work, I can still put my plastic covers back in the engine bay (the air box and battery cover would go in if I cut out the walls and mounted them to something). My car (I got it back Saturday) is running on a slightly tuned base map so that I can drive it around safely and get it ready for RotorJam. Post RotorJam, I'll be shopping on Dynotime. For the time being, other than bringing it to meets/shows, the car will sit in my mom's driveway. I'm sure she'll be thrilled about that but it's her own fault for living in a convenient location I say.
