i went to schwartz to buy a mini van with my friend, well he wanted it. the sales guy was cool, but the sales manager was such a dick. he was yelling at us like how could you dare ask what the lowest price was. then he tried to tell me he could do 400 whatever a month for a 20k car, but not a 20k minivan. i was like what are you talking about the prices are the same. then he tried to tell me i wasnt paying what i was paying for my explorer (at the time) until i pulled out my payment book, which i always kept in my truck for some reason. we ended up just leaving because he was so irritating. in my life i was never yelled at for wanting to buy a car...huge negative for sales, never went back

NEGATIVE for Kerry Mazda Service - Florence, KY

Incompetent service department.

I had them mount new tires on my rims. They have new Hunter machines that don't touch the wheel and the Road Force Balancer. I showed them my wheels before they took the car, just in case. Well, it's a good thing I did, because they CHIPPED EVERY SINGLE WHEEL in several locations around the rim. I made them write me a letter stating that they'd refinish the wheels because I was moving 2 days later.

It took 3 months to finally get them to have the wheels refinished. I had to use the proof of the letter that I made them write. I've never received a call back from the service writer. I've ALWAYS called him. I specified that I wanted my tires remounted inside out from what they had been, so that the good tread was on the outside (I track my car, so the outside tread was GONE, but had THICK inside tread). This should be easy and make sense. They do this every day. I called and asked if they were done yet. He said yes and I asked him if the tires were mounted correctly. He said No. I told him to remount the correct way. I called a couple days later and he said they were done. I was skeptical, buy I said I'd come pick them up (coming up from Lexington, an hour away).

I was in a rental car and he left the wheels in the sales department since service would be closed. I got there to find the tires mounted the WRONG WAY. I couldn't believe it. The rims looked ok (I could tell they were repainted, though), but I could see that sticky weights had been put on and then removed and then put on again. So, they probably had the tires mounted the right way, then thought it was wrong, and remounted the WRONG WAY.
I took the wheels because I wasn't going to drive back up to them. They are going to reimburse me to have the tires flipped. We'll see how long this takes...

See next post on Paul Miller Mazda (POSITIVE).

POSITIVE Paul Miller Mazda Service - Lexington, KY

What a refreshing experience, after the nightmare with Kerry. The service writer (LaRon, or Ron, for short) is knowledgeable and is hooking me up and taking care of me. He knows I'm a racer and I was gonna have them remount my tires, but he referred me to a local shop that does a lot of race cars, instead of keeping the business. He admitted that, even though he has the same equipment as them, they'll do a much better job. I've seen a Porsche 911 Turbo track car that they've done, so I trust them fully.

It's smart to take extra care with the racers and enthusiasts. They're the ones that'll drive business in.

Paul Miller has a cool dealership in Mazda's new showroom format, too.

Oakland mazda- parts took forever, but serviced it decently..delayed alot

Oaktree mazda gets a million thumbs up...Ive written two surveys....and i cant even explain how much i love them! and Tim the service manager is by far the coooooolest guy, that will make anything you wish happen, my rims didnt get curbed either =) my hp evos!!

128 Mazda, Wakefield, MA

Went in for oil change, they ended up replacing a lower left lateral link that was not covered under warranty. They said it looks like I hit something. I asked them to explain since the only two accidents I was in, I had gotten it fixed at their place. The only explanation I got was that it was not from the accident and it was not under warranty. So I was out $400. I suspect the part was fine to begin with and they just try and slide things by people when they think they can. It was already said and done before I realized I was being screwed over.

Hillard Mazda in Fort Worth, TX: HUGE NEGATIVE

All –

Please DO NOT take your vehicle to Hillard Mazda for ANY type of service WHAT-SO-EVER. I took my RX8 there for an oil change on Feb. 28. Nothing was wrong with the car when I took it in and it came out with a rattle. I find out that the frame bracket was bent and a couple exhaust hangars are knocked up and out of place effecting the power band. This type of damage was determined to be fresh by an insurance adjuster and can only happen if the car is bottomed out, which we all know I certainly did not do. The only time this could have happened is when it was not in my care at Hillard Mazda. I explained the situation to a manager at Hillard Mazda who in turn was not pleasant to deal with and even though there are records on file stating my complaint of the rattle immediately after the oil change, Hillard Mazda refuses to accept responsibility.

My car is being fixed at Hiley Mazda in Hurst, who has been incredibly pleasant and easy to deal with. They are bending over backwards to have my car repaired in time for me to take it out of town today. Unfortunately, it’s being repaired out of my pocket. I’ve officially learned my lesson.

Just want to share so ya’ll don’t have to go through the same thing. I know Hiley isn’t down the street, but the 15-20 minute drive is worth it to me.

These people are crooks. I bought an '05 RX-8 AT sport pearl white. They beat all the other dealers prices. Part of the deal was to have a Mazda spoiler put on it. They had the car for 2 weeks diring a recall and never put the spoiler on. i took delivery of the car and they said they would call when the spoiler came in. They called a few day's later. Made an appointment on a saturday to have it done. Well they installed the spoiler and drove the car back to the front of the dealership and parked it about 12" on top of a curb in the front.
I walked out with the accesssories guy and saw the car on the curb and was furious. He said that they would do whatever it took to make it new again. HA HA. Well I did not look to close at the spoiler, I was distracted by my mashed in front end, But I got home and looked a little closer at the spoiler and found it was not a Mazda spoiler , but some aftermarket piece of crap. The color was Nowhere near the white on the car and it was sitting off to the left almost a quarter of an inch. Looking at the under side of the trunk,it
looked like they made the bolt holes with a punch. Metal was sticking out around the bolts.
Well after talking to the dealer they agreed to replace the spoiler and the trunck lid.
Wonderful, on a car with 300 miles on it. They also agreed to replace the damaged parts in the nose. Time came for them to fix it. Well they replaced half of the damaged parts under the front end. They used plastic zipties to hold the other damaged parts together.
They did put a Mazda spoiler on the new trunk ( which they said was coming from Mazda)
found out that they tok one off another car in the lot. So now I have three different colors
of white under the trunk lid, they painted the nuts a different color white than thrunk and the hinge color does not match the trunk underneath. And during the fix they "changed my oil for free" Well I went and got an estimate from a body shop and it came to nearly 2000.00 dollars to fix what they did and repaired. They offered me 210.00 dollars in parts
to fix the car. I told them LATER. I went to another dealership and had the 5000 mile service done and they asked me if i had had the oil changed before and I said yes.
Well they service tech came to me and showed me the filter off the car and said it was a
factory filter and the oil had never been changed. Well after all I had a reciet and a sticker in the window that said it had.I called three other dealerships withthe part # off the oil filter and they said you CAN NOT get that filter.
Well to make along story short
DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REASON WHAT SO EVER!
My car is still not fixed and we will be going to ______ (fill in the blank) soon.

Well I finally have satisfaction. Tex Earnhardt the owner of Earnhardt Mazda,
has stepped up and given me a new car. They took my White '05 RX-8 AT and gave me a brand new Titanium '05 RX-8 AT W/Sport package.
Thank you Tex Earnhardt.

PRO: Salesman said he would be glad to deliver the car to me (300km away) -
CON: Car was filthy upon delivery, absolutley stank of coffee, and BO from the delivery men, they had spilled coffee in the cupholders (I can't even stand the smell of the stuff) Two weeks later smell still lingers.
Dent on drivers door which I am positive was not there upon test drive.
Tank was empty (low level light was on, took 55 l to fill)
Called 2 days after delivery to inquire as to my satisfaction, gave the rep the same details, no return call yet.

Hubler Mazda West Plainfield, IN

Negative!

I took my car in because the airbag light would constantly stay on.
One of the bolts on my passanger side seat wasn't screwed in so the seat rattled when I turned corners. The bolt had also been half-way stripped, but I managed to screw it in just fine. And they scratched the hell out of my driver side foot board. They said i'd get a call when the replacement board came in. 3 months later....yeah right!

Lakeland Mazda in Lakeland, Florida NEGATIVE.
Bad service dept. I had to take my mazda back three times for them to fix my 'check engine light' problem. Service crew VERY unfriendly and made me feel like an unworthy consumer. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP.

Kerry Mazda in Florence, KY (Cincy area)

Poor sales department...very rude, pushy, always try to bribe with "free oil changes" if you give them high scores on mazda survey even though not deserving of it.

Service dept even worse....took off a panel that had nothing to do with an oil change and did not screw it back together...left me stuck on the highway hours away from home with this panel dragging on the ground...when I called this dealer from the side of the interstate, they suggested that I use the tire jack to lift the vehicle and have me crawl underneath to take the panel off on the side of the interstate....I was the one who had to mention roadside assitance and ask for local dealers. They apologized, then tried to claim it wasn't their fault and the 12 bolts vibrated themselves loose (the car was fine when I dropped it off 24hrs prior), then accepted responsibility again when they realized another dealer was fixing it as a warranty issue and it wouldn't cost them....and once again, had the nerve to bribe me with a free oil change AGAIN if I would give them high scores on the survey.

Very unprofessional, stay away from these guys!

^^^ Could not agree more. My experience with Kerry in Florence was equally as bad. EXTREMELY pushy sales, told me that they will only sell a car for the sticker price (after another dealership was taking $2000 off yet the other dealership was going to "screw me" on "other items" according to Kerry), and like you said very unprofessional. My dad (who is my co-signer) was told that he could not sit in on a pricing discussion, WTF!. Then as we are leaving the dealership, the manager tells us that all we are doing is wasting the salesmen's time, and that we should leave because I wasnt willing to buy a car that day. I have told all my friends to never go to a Kerry dealership ever again.

This is actually a blessing in disguise, since i was looking at a mazda6 that day, then went to Jake Sweeney where jokingly, i said that i would rather have an rx-8, but that it was out of my price range. So they worked with me to get a great deal on the car i am driving now. So i guess in the long run thank you Kerry Mazda for being *sshats.

I should have posted this a long time ago, but i guess i'm just that lazy.

Gave me the GT/color I wanted with 13 miles on it. Service has been solid and they have gotten the accessories when I asked for them. I will definitely do business again with them. Service guy is great and an officer in the National Guard.

Well since everyone else is ripping on Kerry I'll share part of the story of how I got my 8.

After months of saving every penny I could and paying off my credit cards to raise my credit rating, and researching what car I wanted to get (it was always the 8, but I tested some others) I finally had the money and the credit score I needed to get my car. I had it narrowed down to 3 cars (all used). An '05 titanium, '04 velocity red, and the '04 winning blue I took home. The '05 was just a touring model with 10k miles on it, but the salesman wanted $24k. He also told my he was 90% sure I wouldn't be qualified to buy it. I drove off giving them the finger. Kerry had the v red one with 19" Koing rims and satilite radio for $21,500 and it had less miles than the blue, but they never seemed to have it in when I wanted to see it. First it was there, then they took it to auction. I showed up one day after talking to them and they said they would pull it from the auction for me. When I got there the car still hadden't arrived. I took out one of my business cards and put my offering price of $20,500 on it with my phone number. A few days later I get a call "we've got the car, it's here" so I say fine I'll come up after work. A couple hours later I get a call saying "we can't get it off the truck, it's you'll have to wait until tomorrow." Tomorrow comes and I drive out after work and what do I find but no car. On the way home I stopped at the dealer that had my future car, and I gave her a once over again. I had a loooooong talk with the sales manager - mostly about bs, and at the end of our conversation he said I'd do $20,500 on this car. I said sold. I already had my loan approved and just needed to wait 3 days to get my check so I could buy the car. The next day I get a call from Kerry "we've got it! it's here!" I said to myself, well I've already got the price I want, but let's see if I can't get a better one from these guys. I drive out there again and it was just the sales manager there. I had to wait about an hour to test drive it. It was a nice car, and better detailed than the blue. I came back in for my test drive and the manager came out and said "I can't find the key." I was like "you've gotta be kidding me." He looked around for about 5 minutes and came back and said, sorry I don't have it. I was writing off the car in my head as I walked back to my old '87 civic. Then he comes running at me full speed "I found it, I found it!" Apparently the salesman I was dealing with hid it in his desk. The test drive was VERY short and I had to take him along. The guy was upset when I told him I already had a loan approved and wouldn't be financing through them, but he never stopped pushing it. Walking out he gave me the old "is there anything I can do to get you in this car today?" line. I looked him in the eye and said point blank (mind you this is the sales manager and the internet price was $21,500) "if you say $20k, I'll go home right now, get my check and be back in 45 minutes and buy it right now." He backed off and said "well, I don't know, I've gotta talk to my boss, we may still have some more money in this car, I want to do it, but I can't..." then he gave me one of those stupidly strong gripped handshakes and we parted ways. I bought Jezebel the next day. The gave me another $100 off, and a free oil change. Kerry never called me back.

Its a shame there is only 4 mazda dealerships in this city, and one of them i will NEVER go to again.

I wish I knew all this before I bought my car........I had an employee discount so price wasn't much of an issue, but they were pressuring me to buy that day b/c a mazda rebate was expiring and I needed to take delivery (which was actually true). I really wanted a ti gray and the one they had there didn't have all the options I wanted, and like an idiot, I believed them that no other dealers in the area had it. I wish I would have slept on it and done a little research on my own.

That isn't even that big of a deal though....the part that got me is that I didn't have much of an opportunity to look over the car because they were closing and the salesman was pushing me to hurry up (couldn't believe he was so rude...making comments, even after we committed to buying the car that we have to hurry b/c his wife has dinner on the table, etc etc...). We took delivery that night, but was told after the fact that I had to bring the car back already for a recall (which they never mentioned before). Once I took it home and washed it, I noticed that someone backed the car into something on a test drive and the bumper was all scratched, and one of the "kids" they let test drive the car was wearing a ton of rings and scratched the driver's door and the shift ****. Kerry Mazda's reply was that I was too picky...luckily the contracted paint guy shut the salesman up by saying, geez, the customer see's this every time they get in the car and its a $30k+ car!!

They always told me the survey's are extremely important and if I give them all 10's they would give me free oil changes....but I think they sensed that I was pissed off and that I could care less about an oil change so I never got a survey in the mail.

I should write Mazda USA.....I know for a fact that they are very concerned when a dealer is getting a bad reputation.

Definitely write MazdaUSA about the dealership. I had a ton of problems with service at the dealership where I bought my car. I filed a formal complaint with MazdaUSA. Months later, the entire service staff was fired and replaced. They are much friendlier now.

Sincerely,

Thumbs down Classic Mazda East (Orlando)

Few months ago, I was having some issues with power loss.. similar to what others have experienced. After taking it into said dealership, it was determined that the spark plugs and wires needed replacing.

The car drove fine for about two months and 2k miles until this past weds while driving, my car started to wig out

I took my car to Cory Fairbanks Mazda this time around, and the problem turned out to be a plug wire which, apparently wasn't connected properly, and bad ignition coils. As I summarized in my original thread, I'm pretty confident that this problem would have been avoided completely had Classic Mazda East did their job.

Not sure what my options are if I wanted to go to CME about this... any ideas?

Mazda City of Orange Park (Jacksonville,FL)- HUGE NEGATIVE

constant engine problems, constant malfunctions in center console, console has been on order for over 6 months, they've ordered the wrong parts 3 different times over that period. Insist nothing is wrong with car although idles roughly and stalls everytime it's at a red light.

My last car, a '02 VW Passat W8 was lemonlawed due to the inept sevice there. 14 times in the shop, 32 job orders and 60 days out of service in 12 months of frustrating ownership!

I bought my RX-8 at Hampton Chevy-Mazda but really have not had the chance to gauge their service as I have not had any major issues to speak of. The only real work thay have done was the airbag recall so I will see.
before i bought my 8 i went to the Hampton Mazda and asked one of the salesman some questions and was very helpful. he even gave me a brochure and said they pretty much have not changed so a lot of things will be the same for most of the years.

after i bought my 8 i looked up some parts on Rosenthal's website and wrote the part numbers down along with the prices. i then went to Hampton Mazda to see if they had those parts. the guy took forever just to punch some numbers in and kept pressing backspace over and over. he then said they had one of the parts i asked for but it was an entirely different kind. he finally found the right one and told me the price. he said there was no way he could match the price from Rosenthal.

after that i left and ordered it from Rosenthal online and got my shipment 3 days later. i will be ordering parts from Rosenthal in the future as well instead of going to Hampton Mazda.
