Bought a used AEM CAI from llzjayarzll.

Before I bought it, I asked about the condition, if there were any dents, etc. Everything said led me to believe it was "used but in great shape".

Got the CAI last week, unboxed it, and immediately saw every square inch of every pipe was scratched. I know this doesn't affect performance, but it's unsigddhtly and I just can't imagine how someone can scratch up a CAI this bad.

Secondly, most pipes had dents on the tips where the connectors go. It's like they were taken apart by sticking a screwdriver inside the gaskets instead of unscrewing the clamps. Luckily, aluminum is soft and this was mostly repaired.

Thirdly, half the filter and the entire inside of the pipes were soaked in oil. Here's I'm guessing the car got undersprayed/oil-coated and it got in the filter. Poor maintenance, or worse if this is not how it happened.

Anyways, this set me back the cost of an AEM cleaning kit (which is not very much but for the principle it shouldn't have been required) and a few hours of work. I sent out this list of complaints but never got a response -- even though I clearly stated I was not requesting a refund/return as I was going to keep it and clean it up considering it was not expensive -- I simply wanted an explanation.

Overall, it was usable, but I am unsatisfied with the condition of the intake.

Beware of misrepresentation. Ask for close up, hi-def pics.

Yes I can feel your pain since I bought his exhaust and was also led to believe that it was in good condition but when I received it there was a split in it and one of the screw was stripped out of the side and someone had tried to fix it to no avail. I contacted him and he fessed up to the split but not the stripped screw but he seemed he did not care that he misled me either. I asked why he did not mention the split he said because it should be cheap to fix so I got 500 in an exhaust that needs work just goes to show you can't trust anyone these days.
