There is nothing that kicks the gut like opening the hood of a beautiful new RX-8 and discovering that your engine compartment has been vandalized - but it really really sucks when the vandal isn't even human! Monster squirrel got into the engine compartment, found the fire wall to his liking and cheerfully removed the fabric all three sides and was working on the underside of the hood. That not enough, he then desided to sharpen his teeth on the break fluid container (didn't quite it through) and on the black plastic battery cover - thank goodness no wires - yet!
Took it to the dealer. Dealer laughed in sympathy - said yes he had seen it all before - mice and rodents love that lining - then he gave me the really good news - it would cost over $500 in labor, alone, to replace the mess. And not it wasn't covered by warrenty - evil evil - then he said you are insured by Allstate right ....yeh... Well, you have comprehensive insurance give them a call. And sure enough Allstate will take care of it - I have $250 deductable - anything else they cover the cost of labor and materials! and no rate increase. I have Home, property and coverage for my old red Mazda 323 and they only charged $100 more than normal to cover the RX-8, because of its safety features and listing as a 4 door sedan...
Blessings on Allstate. Mazda and Allstate are a winning combination! Also, my buddies who did saves during Hurricane Kathrine said that the Allstate agents were there immediately for the damaged houses and Allstate houses got rebuilt - while many insured by other companies are still in litigation about was it wind or water damage! Allstate Good company!
