The BLACK, RACE-STYLE grill looks cool,
Don't want to be a pain here, but the only reason that stopped me from buying said part was a "better" close up picture....
Install instructions would be nice, sins I hate to drill holes in my car

Maybe you might have one or 2? (pictures)

Hi Modena:

Thanks for the post and interst.

First, due to the fact that the RX8 grille insert is rather new, we have limited pictures. Thereofore, my suggestion is to visit our standard retail website, www.grille-tech.com. You can review the "Customer Rides" section since this area is dedicated to previous Grille-Tech customers who purchased our product, installed it on their vehicle and then sent us pictures. It should at least give you an idea of how our grille inserts look when installed.

As far as Instructions ... please send an e-mail to GroupBuys@grille-tech.com (Put ATTN: KRISTINA) & be sure to include a valid e-mail address. I will thereby attach the RX8 Installation Instructions (Word Document format) for for your review.

Hope this helps!

Take care and again ... thanks for your interest,
Kristina

Yeah, i was interested if it would cover the oil coolers and radiator holes, but I already have a grill in the front center.....

I assume then this is a cosmetic grill option.

Hello Everyone:

I just wanted to address a few of your questions:

1) The Group Buy is unlimited as far as how many people can purchase them (or are available). Therefore, if you are interested, just follow the Ordering Instructions on the post. When we feel that we are getting low on stock or the owner decides to end the Group Buy, I'll be sure to give you a heads-up with about a week's notice or so.

2) This is a one piece grille for the large opening as pictured.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.

Have a great weekend,
Kristina, Grille-Tech, LLC

you'd have made a killing if you had made Oil cooler screens in addition to this product...

I have to have a front plate so the grill is mostly covered up anyway

I went to his site, and he does offer oil cooler screens as well, just not a group buy at this time. perhaps that could be added in as another group buy option?

Not a problem. If you want to just burn it to a CD, I'll pick it up when we have our meet in Sept.

On topic though, grilletech, do you have plans to offer grilles made from a thinner material? The other thing I noticed when looking over the grilles that were offered is they all had (what seemed to me) a fair amount of material. I worry that it would have a negative impact on airflow if installed. Some of the thin wire grilles I've seen elsewhere look like they'd do a lot less to distrupt airflow.

I don't recall. . .

. . .if you said this is a replacement for the stock grille or a cosmetic attachment?

Oops, my mistake

after changing colors on the 1st page screen I could see your description of the grille. If you come up with a replacement rather than an add on, I'd be interested
because they do look nice.

Hello All:

To address some of you questions ...

MATERIAL:
Our grille inserts are made of perforated mild steel that is then double powder coated for maximum durability. After being double powder-coated, they are clear coated. They also include a UV protected rubber trim around the outer edges to protect your vehicles' finish during installation.

FRONT PLATE CONCERNS:
Due to the fact that most states do not require front plates on vehicles, our grille inserts are designed for the majority. In other words, our Research & Development Department has determined that it is more beneficial for us to design our products to fit vehicles without front plates. However, if you are required by your state to have front plates, you can either modify the plate holder (usually made of plastic and easy to cut) OR you can cut notches in our grille inserts (since our product is made of metal, it is more difficult to cut for the bracket to fit).

AIRFLOW CONCERNS
Our Race-Style grille inserts have 63% open area; whereas, our Diamond-Style grille inserts have 50% open area. We do want to point that the owner of Grille-Tech has a 2001 Honda S2000, has had both styles installed on his car during the summer months, and noticed noticed no increase in engine temperature.

I hope this information has assisted with some of your concerns.

HAPPY LABOR DAY - enjoy your weekend,
Kristina

Kristina the area that will be covered with the purely decorative grill you are offereing is a fake grill for the most part anyway- so there is no airflow concern as the RX-8 doesnt really get any air from there any way

Except of course if you have the Racing Beat cold air duct which gets ALL the air from that area :p

I am teetering between the black and the silver race style.

On my silver it may give it quite a different look being silver. Kind of like the RB front body kit which eliminates the black grille.

I put the silver super high flow grille on last week.

I like it a lot.

Gives that non-refined stock grille a much needed smoothing out.

I took the front bumper off to install it. This is the only way to get perfect results.

If a person uses more of the zip ties that are included in the kit to pull it more taught on the bottom edge after securing the top edge, my opinion is it looks better pulled more to the curve at the bottom of the stock grille.

In the pictures he has them almost flat not much bend to it.

I guess what I am trying to say is it can curve in at the bottom if a person likes that.
It just takes more time to set it up that way but I think it was worth it.

Hi All
I did purchase one of these grilles awhile ago....it is a perfect fit....no problem there and I got the diamond shaped silver which looks really nice on the black cherry....there is only one snafu.....the directions can be a little confusing....but there is a work around which just took me a couple of minutes to figure out....its very easy to attach midway to the bottom since the original grill is open at that point....top is where you need to improvise a little....cable ties are provided for attachment....if any needs a photo..I will post.... :D
unfortunate that I wasnt able to get in on the group buy

PS...I DID NOT TAKE OFF THE FRONT BUMPER...thats way too much work :D

I had to take mine off because I have the RB ram air duct. With that in place it gives no room to put hands behind the plastic grille.

pics coming soon.

Cool

I cut into the grille in for the Blinder M-20 install and license plate reinstall.

I also painted it black in order to make the transponders hard to see.

I ordered some trim from Kristina so I can put it around the transponders and it will match. Debating if I will use it, the install turned out really good.
