Thumbs up Interest: Buddy Club P1 QF (the lightest) track wheels

Well, I should check the weight on the Volk Magnesium but those are about $1200ea? These wheels are light and they so you will the competition!

OK, well I started this on the RX-7 forum and have a few people interested. We would need a minium of 10 people/set (40 pcs/ea) and they require 50% deposit and some kind of commitment application order thing.

Here is some more acurate #'s. They do have 13lb (14lb rounded up) wheels but in 17x.8.5's and the 17.9's are 14-14.5lbs. SSR Competion are 15.6lbs in 17x9 and Enkei RPF01 are 15.9lbs in 17x9.

We are looking at possibly $480/ea wheel in 17x9 and about $540/ea wheel in 18x10 but this is assuming a 20% club discount. Delivery is estimated at 6 weeks after deposit is made. Custom offsets can be done, so +45 in the 17x9's and +50 or maybe +52 if possible in 18x10's.

Yeah Rishie, I'd rather you handled it myself. I don't want to deal with the money or shipping. I am still awaiting a response from Japan. I am local to them and Albert has been very helpful. So nothing is locked down yet, thanks for the help!

I don't know if anyone here really wants rims that are smaller than the stock 18" rims? I have a white rx8 with the buddy club front bumper and side skirts. I wanted to get their rims at some point too, but definitely nothing smaller than the stock 18"

We are talking about track wheels but none the less there is two sizes being considered and the posibility of both sizes in the group buy but i'm not shure if they would consider 10 sets in two sizes or they would require 20 sets. Anyhow, 18's would work on both RX-7 and RX-8. Jeff Kiesel (04-06 SCCA BP champ) is running 16" Bogart RT racing wheels with 12" & 13" wide Hoosiers on his carbon fiber tube chasis RX-7. But back to your point, if i'm not mistake both RX-7 and RX-8 have the same diamter of 25" OEM wheel size (if not, please correct).

If all the RX-8 guys want 18x 10's then we will have to find out if we can combine sizes for the minimum purchase or if we would have to double the order, assuming RX-7 guys don't want 18's. The reason for 17's are keeping price and weight down for the wheels and the tires are cheap. Falken Azenis are like $130ea in 255/17. For you faster guys, there's Nitto T01's (NT01's?). I'm not shure if any of you are planning on running Hoosier slicks. I'm shure Rishie can chime in with tire package deals. Also Buddy Club has super light weight forged aluminum racing lug nuts to.

Rishie, you might consider a Group Buy on these for the SCCA B Stock racers, no real lightweight options since SSR dropped this size/offset

I don't see the weights on those anymore but they are heavier. 2-pc is usally heavier then 1-pc forged. http://www.buddyclub.us/buddyclub/p1r2/p12up.html

They have to be 18 x 8 with an offset between 44 - 56mm to be legal for the SCCA Stock class on a RX-8, P1 QF doesn't offer this, the SSR was 16.3 lb and isn't available anymore and used is extremely rare because nobody is willing to sell them, the next clsoset wheel people are now buying is the OZ Superleggera which weighs 18.4 lb, I'm betting the Buddy Club P2 wheel in this size is under 17#

oh sorry, my car isn't in stock class so I wasn't aware that you had to keep the same size wheels. There are some of you guys running 18x10 I beleive from the Enkei group buy. I don't know what class they are in.

With this group buy, they will do custom offsets and widths. The only thing I don't know at this time is if they will accept multiple size requests for the minimum 40pcs.

Well I spoke with Gabriel (not as helpfull as Albert) and so I am not positive the request was even relayed about custom offsets. I was just told they wouldn't but previously said they might. So, now what I need is the exact sizes you guys want and offset needed. Because unfortunately unless I get more help with this we may be limited to current available sizes and offsets and the club discount is with a minimum of 40pcs/per size.

So for you RX-8 guys that are interested:
How many for 18x8?
How many for 18x10?
I'm assuming those are the only two sizes you are interested and keep in mind we need 10 sets of each size for the club discount. Once that is worked out, i'll try for the lug nuts and shirts.

^ thanks Rishie

OK, guys here's some weight comparisons that I found. BC P1 QF's are lighter then Magnesium and only Carbon Fiber is lighter!

Buddy Club P1 QF 17x9 Forged 14.5lbs
Volk Racing CE28N 17x9 Forged 14.8lbs
Racing Hart CP-035R 17x9 Forged 15.0lbs
SSR Type-C ................17x9 Forged 15.2lbs

Buddy Club P1 QF 18x10 Forged 16.1lbs
BBS RE Magnesium 18x10 Forged 16.5lbs
Nismo LM Magnesium 18x10 Forged 17x1.lbs
BBS RGR 18x10 Forged 19.8lbs
Porsche 996 Cast 18x10 23.4lbs
Dodge Viper Cast 18x10 28.4lbs

The only wheel I found lighter...
Dymag Carbon Fiber 18x10.5 15.9lbs (how much do you think that costs?)

the special-import Enkei 18 x 9.5 x 45mm RP-F1 is 17.1 lb, but costs under $300 ea, I run these on my STU class RX-8

is 1/2" wider and 1 lb less per wheel worth $1000 more per set, maybe if you're a pro effort but most people aren't going to see the justification

you're probably better off just sticking to the 17" option, that cost/weight and lower tire cost will interest people, too bad there aren't wider options for those

OK, guys we are getting close with this. To make this happen it will require a 50% deposit. If it helps any socal guys, I have a truck and I can fit like 3 people and we could pick some up together and throw them in the back and it would be cheaper then shipping. Riverside, LA, OC and San Diego guys could benefit from this.

The sizes requested by Rishi are:
17x9 +45 and 18x9.0 +45
18x10 could be requested also but there may not be enough for the minimum purchase. We may get some orders form the RX7, Sti & Evo guys, so we may not need 10 sets from RX8 guys.

If you think you can do a 50% deposit, please make a list and add your name for Rishie to see where we stand.

1. GoRacer 17x9 or 18x10
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

They do not show production of a 18x9.5. We're doing this to produce custom offsets but need 10 sets per size. Therefore we have to work within a good compromise to have these wheels fit various vehciles.

There is only one vote for 18x10. It's possible a comprise of 18x9.5 could have been done if there was enough interest but the custom sizes request had to be limited to be taken seriously. Currently there are 7 votes for 17x9 and only one vote for 18x10.

If you guys want 18x10 then please vote!
If you guys want 18x9.5 then please speak up here.
If there is enough RX8 guys for 18x9.5 then it can be done but it 50% deposit commitment to make it happen.

You can also get 2-peice Racing Brakes from Endless Rotaries and have an extreme adavantage saving something like 150lbs per corner in unsprung weight! Damn!!!

IT'S 40 PIECES PER OFFSET AND COLOR TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. SO WE ALL NEED TO VOTE ON A PREFERRED COLOR.

OK, guys I am willing to buy two sets (17x9 & 18x10) if there are 9 of you that want 18x10! I can also deliver as many as will fit in my bed and take to Endless Rotaries if you guys want tires mounted. Don't forget if you also get Racing Brake OEM sized 2-peice rotors, you will have the lightest unsprung weight possible!!!

i really want 18x10 +45. i think down to 40 would be workable but not ideal. so i guess 40-45 would be good

it would be even more insanely awesome if they came in flat black.. but i guess i cant be picky about the color either
