Ha, yeah, didn't have a not starting problem before, just had a my-transmission-is-being-a-b!t@h problem. But no, didn't flood it (never have actually, what do you mean flooded AGAIN??) and thanks Scott for covering that for me. I'm not sure what's wrong but you gotta know I've been workin' on it for three days straight takin' things apart and trouble shooting, tools everywhere, up til two or three a.m. workin in the street under the hood. Think I got it figured out, got some theories...we'll see...

Definitely more technical than flooding though. I mean, this is, like, wiring level we're talkin here!

Thank you, me too! I'm actually to the point where I'm hoping it's the alternator. Got it taken out finally at eleven last night so I'm gonna get it tested today...procrastinating with calling Mazda to get a quote on one, but then again, I wouldn't feel right buying an Auto Zone alternator. I mean, seems like the 8 deserves better. We'll see!!

Ah, I went back and re-read that and it sounds like I'm anti-Auto Zone so let me rephrase because I'm ALL ABOUT Auto Zone, I pretty much factor them in my monthly bill payments with as much as I visit/spend money there!

I should have said something more along the lines of: with something as important to the car as an alternator, seems like I should at least get a quote on an OEM one from the stealership.

But I just called them and quite frankly, I'm back to being all about Auto Zone. The guy was rude and I'm kinda moody, ya know, when the car is not feeling well so...yep, not givin' my money to them!

More than likely it is going to be your starter, from what everything is sounding like. Can you push start the car and take it over to Auto zone and get them to check for any trouble codes? Yes, you can push start a car for those of you wondering.

Nope, couldn't push start it and turns out it was the alternator. Ordered one from autozone today, it was $200 but I'll get $35 back when I give them the core stuff. Yay! Scarlett will run again, yessss!!!! Thanks for all the comments/advice though, guys, appreciate it!

And for the record, I'm feelin' like a super badass cause (with the moral support and arm strength assistance from my sis) we took that sucka out ourselves. I may be a for-real engineer afterall!

Engineers build Bridges, right? Nevermind.

Congrats on getting the car figured out. Watch for fuses to be popped, some alternators give a dying burst every, now, and again.

Lol, I think we need about 5:1 for real engineers from A&M versus UT to keep up, right? (Sorry Creto, I know you shudder when I join in with the aggie jokes). Thanks for the head's up, I'll check out the fuses tomorrow night when I get the new alternator in. IF I get the new one in. Then I'll be a for-real BADASS engineer? Or somethin'.

And by the way, I DID build bridges! Lol, did I tell you that joke or was that random? When I was waiting tables in college and told this guy I was a civil engineer, we build bridges? He said "metaphorical or actual bridges?"

Seriously?!

Well you are from A&M :P Question is how many A&M engineers does it take to screw in a light?

That depends-with or without dropping the last one inside the headlight casing, creating the need to order more...I'm gonna need that information before I run the calculations.

Thanks and gig 'em.

Never heard the story from you, no. But, I was just referring to engineering a bridge.

Ok, I know this is REALLY off topic after all the Aggie engineer jokes, but since my baby girls (actually babies, not the car) are big enough that I can turn the carseats around to face forward and actually have enough room in my original baby (the 8) to fit them in... I would like to come to this one week (if I can get hubby interested and get everyone ready and out at one time!!). When will you guys get together again?

Hey Tiff, long time! Love to see the fam. If you can get em out tomorrow, I may be able to show up late, otherwise, head out to a Thursday meet in Addison (we switch off weeks, one week at Flips on Tuesday, next week at BJ's -unless otherwise specified- in Addison on Thursday).

You going to make it down for any of the games this season?

BTW, link to this week's meet at Flips: click me!

Ah... the days of just getting the car and driving down for a game!! Actually I REALLY hope we will get to go to one this year. It is getting much easier to get out with the girls and I thought I might bring it up sometime in the near future to my hubby. I also have some friends in the area that would probably love to go down for a game if I can get us some (cheap) tickets. I really miss CS and would love to go down for a game. You been back lately?

I went down for Chilifest and I've bought season tickets this year, so I'll be heading down there frequently this fall. Let me know if yall decide to go down and we can see about meeting up out there.

And kids are never to young to be immersed in the Aggie traditions My mom taught me the War Hymn when I was 4.
