Angry Anyone in Austin get hit by hail?

I was at a vet clinic yesterday off of 1431 and got slamed not once but twice by hail moving through the area! got about 8 dings out of it Just kinda stood there watching in disbelief, not much you could do in a situation like that...

anyone know a good body shop that is not going to charge an arm and leg to fix?

Dude...that sucks...I woulda gone out and thrown myself on the car...

Try Fix-a-Dent here in austin...they did my car for less than $100 bucks and it came out pretty damn good...

+1 for paintless dent repair...

lol I would have done that if not for the fact that the hail was the size of golf *****! Thanks for the info I will look into them! If it was jus the hood that got hit I would not cry as much since I plan on replacing that but it got hit every where else that it would not be an easy replacment!

The other thing that can be done is to take a large old comforter and throw it over the car...absorbs alot of the impact and prevents alot of the damage...

Yeah I'm looking to replace the hood too...Cant seem to find any vents I can put on so replacement appears to be my only alternative..

I have not been able to find any vents either that I like. Did see an 8 last week in Houston that had the VS Vader hood, did not look too bad at all. body was WB with black hood. I think I would have painted it to match body but I guess a lot of it is personal feelings

One thing I did hear from VS was that ppl had a bit of a problem with water getting into engine so they were JB welding deflectors on the inside to take care of the issue. I know it is not that big of a deal if you keep the car inside all the time but if you drive like I do you need all the help you can get lol.

I mainly concerned with track days and the heat build up especially in the Texas summer. I wonder if perhaps a group buy on some hood vents could be arranged...

they had one last year but not too sure how it went. and I don't think I would want to cut out the hole for the vent since I could use my current hood if I chose to trade in the 8 I have now if I like the turbo 8 if and when it comes out.

so far I've been lucky this year, no hail for me, of course, that's probably because my car is in a body shop and the other time it was in for warranty work when all the previous hail came. I guess I had enough 2 years ago to fill the quota for a while

There was no hail where I lived. Only heavy rain and Zeus knocking down pins.
Twink someone here mentioned they had a vented hood searching to find out who.

I work at City hall of Cedar Park and I actually saw the hail bouncing off my car from the second story window.. I was pissed. But some how its not that bad, I counted 5 dents. I might be heading to Fix-a-Dent to get those pulled out.

I like the VIS one, it was in the "wolverine thread" in the multimedia section, although that Varis is purty too

I also live live up in that area of HWY 1431 between Cedar Park and Round Rock in the Vista Oaks subdivision. But luckily I had my RX-8 with me down at St. Davids hospital on Monday night staying with my wife and new baby daughter.

If I had not been at St. Davids I am sure my RX-8 would have still been in the driveway when they hail hit. That new little girl of mine must be a good luck charm.

Grats on the new addition! lol let us know how the baby seat fits in the 8 It should fit fine but I have never seen an 8 with one in it.

I do like the Varis I am not too keen on a lot of vents plus I like the scallop on the hood, (not sure what else to call it :P) and Varis does not take away from that.

Where is this Fix-A-Dent place? I tried doing a Yahoo! yellow pages search and only came up with "David's Fix A Dent" which is way out by the airport. I didn't realize it was only about $100 to fix some dings! I've been acquiring them from parking lots like they were candy. Doesn't matter how far away I park from the cars, they seem to enjoy slamming their doors into mine I think the RX-8 must ding really easily too. I don't remember any of my last cars having this problem.

Anyway, references to Fix-A-Dent will be greatly appreciated!

South Austin ftw...all we had was normal rain today, not even that hard rain. But luckily my RX-8 is sitting at Mazda South on warranty work so with a little luck they have it garaged so I don't have to wash it again haha.

^^^^huh?

Someone mentioned Bee Cave above....does anybody know if The Emerald restaurant is still there? I went there with my ex wife a long time ago and it was absolutely the best meal I have probably ever had.
