Argue with Thomas!!!

First, while just growing up in Louisiana doesnt make one cajun, my heritage definitely does. My line flows all the way back to when the Acadians were kicked out of what is modern day Canada by the British, and migrated to modern day Louisiana. see this for further details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acadians
"In the Great Expulsion of 1755-1763, mostly during the Seven Years' War, British colonial officers and New England legislators and militia deported more than 14,000 Acadians from the maritime region in what could be called an ethnic cleansing ante litteram. Approximately one third perished. Many later settled in Louisiana, where they became known as Cajuns."
My great grandmother only spoke french, and this was during a time when French as a language was literally beaten out of people, and my grandfather still to this day speaks french.
Now as for as me being cajun besides my line, I grew up in a cajun family in a cajun lifestyle learning the ways of Mardi Gras and all the accompaniment that goes with it. We often remarked that anything North of I-10 are considered yankies. While I did grow up only a mile south of that border I was definitely growing up cajun.
While I understand that this thread is all in good fun, at this point I would like to say that it is fun for me as well, and I wouldnt "argue" with so many people if I didnt get some enjoyment or humor from doing so

Haha, I guess you are an exception to the stereotype then
My best friend in the Navy was from New Iberia, LA (proud cajun) and I went home on leave to party with him and his girlfriends there and let me just say they were all crazy. Fun as ****, but crazy as hell.

I'd said I need more data to prove you wrong. I dont know the other Thomas's you know to see what basis to which you are comparing us. What I do know is that none of them have the essence that is "me". Further even if they did have my essence, being the worst is not the same as being wrong :P

Indeed, I'm from Lafayette myself, and I can tell you the CRAZY I've seen. Why the heck do you think I stayed in Texas anyway?!

My people escaped into Louisiana from the opposite direction, from Haiti, so maybe that makes me anti-Cajun? You're definitely right 'bout Cajuns being crazy and like to party. Cajuns are fun.
