You're more than welcome to call me any time man, my weekends are almost always free, just a word of warning though, it is pretty far out there from "souf" Austin, I'll probably be up at the shop tomorrow bs-ing around and probably cleaning my car a bit (my interior needs help, it's way overdue) and we'll probably go from there if it's happenin', the other big meet is at 360/183 where the Gateway plaza/Container Store/Best Buy/etc. is, either way just give me a buzz tomorrow or I'll call you or whatever and go from there, I'm not even sure if it's a standing meet or not, seemed like it last Saturday but it was soooooooooooo cold I couldn't really tell since there was only about a dozen or so cars. (It might be a relatively new spot too, once the word gets out it and the weather gets nicer it will propbably fill up etc., and this is in reference to the 1431 spot)

Cool man, sounds great! Ill give you a call when I wake up, approx 1pm, and maybe I can come meet you down at the shop. I wanna talk to your buddy about an alarm also, hopefully set something up for this week. I dont mind long drives as long as it isnt "stupid" long. I like to get out and give the car some exercise once in while!!!

thanks! yeah it was pretty sweet having some forum members/owners out there Looks like that will be the spot for a while now, hopefully for a long while as it's a great location and I had a blast this evening. I almost ventured to the 360/183 meet on the way home but decided not too, maybe next time or something. I'm not sure what the plan is for next Saturday, I'm not sure if I'll be out there, weekend after though I probably will, either way, good looking out and I'll keep an eye out for ya' out the future get togethers

yeah, we got my metra kit put in, got the ipod cable and steering wheel interface done at the same time, still have a ton of other stuff to do but I'm really excited with how everything is working so far, definitely didn't mkae it out, I just took a pseduo cruise home, stopped and had dinner at Schlotsky's on lamar/barton springs, then went home and played some Ps3 college football til 2am I didn't make any meets this past weekend, especially after being sick all last week, I just didn't feel motivated in the least

No clue about the alarm, you might have to give him a call Tuesday as I'm not sure if he's at the shop today or not.

In other news, my car basically died on the way to work today, going down 183 it was sputtering really bad, complete loss of power (including brakes), and it's idling like a vw beetle. I'm soooooooooooo excited to have another issue with it, (ugh, if it wasn't yellow I'd be driving something else by now I swear, the only thing saving that car is the color) and I have no idea what's wrong and worse, what all this is going to cost. yay! great start to the week for me!

hey bro it could be a problem with the alternator considering all the changes youre making with stereo and power related accessories. how are you gonna be getting around these next few days?

Hey Randall,

*If it's the old 4-spd trans/detuned engine problem:
According to Beau Jacobson-Serv.Mgr. @Mazda North/Burnet Rd. (459-4111), recent replacements of engine/trans should get a new shift point control chip, under warranty or repair, to allow higher revs & less lugging for city commutes to "end these failures" on earlier models. Mazda will not replace the old miss-match with the new trouble-free 6 spd/std.235hp engine units; so the chip is your last resort. Beau is the *only* knowledgable source in all of Roger Beasley's locations to address this so far with me. Call him about the chip. If out of warranty, take your car to John Long @Automotive Specialist.

*If it's electrical/electronic load:
Consider a heavy-duty high-output alternator AND heavy-duty sealed battery, or better, a HD 2 battery system to receive the charge & handle the system load. Your system, however big or power hungry, needs to have a matching + safety margin charging, storage & system load carrying capacity, or components will stress & fail prematurely/inconveniently.

A HD alternator & a 2 (some times several batts, some w/isolater for engine-off use) battery system is what *ended operating problems* on police cruisers, high end custom boat & car audio systems when I was a factory rep. for Interstate & Exide Battery Corps. Your system is no different; Les is a great fabricator.

Please send $10. check or money order to my home address for this valuable info.
LD.

I don't think it's electrical, it sounded and felt like I lost a spark plug wire but when I checked them everything was snug, my guess is either compression or maybe a clogged cat maybe, I had total lack of power, I tried driving it up on to the flatbed and it barely moved, then backing it off I barely had brakes (even with the engine running). I wish it was as simple as something electrical, but I have a feeling this is going to be something pretty serious. (maybe another engine even?)

I have 81k on the clock so i'm assuming I should be (about 25 of that on a new engine)

Alternator/batt. upgrade was the easy fix & still advised even if not the immediate problem.

In TexasRxs (you & Berny Schiff) & everywhere else, there have been multiple older 4-spd auto trans and/or engine failures. The chip eliminates the old causes, especially the carbon build up tendency. No prob's w/new 6spd auto/std. engines.

LD.
