Austin/SA Install/Maint day...

Austin/SA Install/Maint day...
I got some misc parts arriving...
Midpipe, UD Pulley showing up and I was wondering if anyone else wanted to get together and not just install some parts, but also do some fluid swapping..haa
I was thinking of doing my oil change as well as swapping out the tranny fluid and the rear diff fluid. From what I understand after the "Break-In" we should all have some metal particles floating around and it could use a good flush/fill. On top of doing something good for our cars, it may free up some HP according to several posts on the forum.
Anyone want to get together? Anyone have a good place/shop?
Chime in!

[UPDATE]
If at least 4 ppl interested, we can buy a case (12 quarts) of 10w-30w Idemitsu oil and the 4-pack of Nippon Oil Filters so we can save a few bucks. Then the only thing left is to figure out if we also want to get a case of Royal Purple/Redline or Amzoil for the Tranny/Rear Diff.
If you just want in on a bulk buy let me know.

Wouldn't mind doing this in Austin...then we could hit up some of those twisty roads you guys have there....though again if we do this in San Antonio...it would be alot easier on myself .....
im due for an oil change anyways....and for some fresh tranny and diff. as well......
im game

Depends on who's interested and where...I'm in austin, but open to running down to SA. Personally, I like the roads here as well, and the lack of retards on the the roads is usually a bonus haa haa...something about SA drivers just scare me...
I'm still checking interest so let's see who's up for what and go from there....

I'm game. Let me know when though. My weekends are pretty busy most of the time. I don't need anything installed ... may want to do an oil change (I have my oil change supplies ... RP 5w20 and factory oil filters).

Yep will do...I still need to figure out who's interested and then buy the right amount of supplies. Still left to debate is the brand/type of fluids ppl want. I've heard good things about Royal Purple but I am still open to using something else if anyone has a good reason.
Step 1) Determine Interest
Step 2) Coordinate Schedules
Step 3) PROFIT!! err...I mean...git er' done...
I PM'ed another member whom I spoke w/ that said he has access to a shop in SA that we *may* be able to use. I sent him a link to this thread so let's see what comes out.
IF we can use a shop, that will obviously be a better solution however would probably mean that we would be going to SA for the shindig.
Let's play by ear for now.

I'm in NB, so I am open for either one. We need to plan ahead because my wife works weekends at the hospital and I have the kiddos so I'll have to find a sitter for my daughter. My son will likely want to come (he is 12 and hooked on cars like dad)

9k...see i TOLD you that you would come in handy haa haa
Bringin the kiddos is cool w/ me, I know how it is...all my six year old son wants to do is pretend drive my car...he'd live in it if I let him...
I got him a force feedback steeringwheel w/ Grand Turismo 4 for PS2 for XMAS and hes itching for the days when he can put his "skills" to use. Prolly going to take him to the kart track here in austin pretty soon.
You said you help your dad host mod days...can you elaborate?

My dad is a member of the local Nissan offroad club and is a member of TMTC. They have monthly meetings and mod days and I am his wrench monkey to assist with installing lift kits, etc. since he is too old to crawl around on the floor anymore. I love to offroad as well but I can only afford one hobby at a time.

Ahh yes...all too familiar with trying to limit your hobbies...
Well, it sounds like we have people who are interested...at least the minimum 4...
Lets move to step 2...
We need to define a location...
So, I could volunteer my place however its in Austin...
Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, Marion is not far from New Braunfels. His shop is closed on Sundays so I could probably arrange it then. We could do it saturday but would fight for space.
When my garage is done we can do it at my house but I have to fill out a request form and wait for my wife to get back to me with an approval.

Sunday appears to be the day everyone is going to be OK with anyway. So no worries on sunday if that is ok with everyone else.
As far as your garage goes...be sure to use the triplicate forms...the wheels of beurocracy lose paperwork fast...

As much as I would love to think we were going to do this in Austin, its looking like we got more ppl from SA. The dates have yet to be set in stone but its looking like sunday would work out best for everyone.
That being said...I've been rummaging thru the forums for the best lubes to use and where. So far I've heard good things about RP and Amzoil. I was planning on purchasing a case to save on shipping for everyone. Obviously I would expect everyone cough up thier share if they wanted in on the buy. Once we got the oil I think we can move forward with setting the actual install/swap date.
So...the next question for everyone is...what are your personal recommendations or opinions on lube.
Engine
Tranny
Rear Diff

I'm going to get my brakes done tomorrow at jcautospec. They're a TexasRxs club sponsor and they also sponsor tech days for the Austin miata club (Tejas Miatas), I'll speak to the owner tomorrow and see if we can't get something going there. They're located in Round Rock, so who knows, maybe we can get some folks from Waco, Killeen, as well as Austin, SA etc. to come on out and break...er..work on cars or something there. Never hurts to ask right ?
