AR Boston/Ozark Mountains Arkansas Run

Hey Arkies

I've been following the forums here for a bit and have seen several gatherings of 8's in TX, but the AR crew seems pretty silent. I'd like to fix that

Would anyone be interested in forming a group to do a mountain run? Thinking of starting in Fayetteville and running the Pig Trail or some similar stretch where we can really sport the 8's suspension and cornering awesomeness. Thinking maybe sometime toward the end of June or early July. This is just the idea phase, figured I'd throw something out there and get the dialogue started.

I've got a friend who owns a wing place in Fayetteville we could meet at and get some grub before the run, or finish there and dine happy. Either way. If you have suggestions I'm open. Some good pics can come off of this trip. I don't think many areas have better scenery than we do. Lets get this thread started!

I would be up for a run. I have driven the pig trail before, but not in my 8. I have been meaning to, since my grandmother is down that way, but I always seem to be in a hurry and end up taking 540 then 40. I will need to know an exact date like 3 weeks ahead of time in order to get off, since I work retail and my days off change all the time. Thanks for posting this in the other AR thread. I am subscribed to that, so I got an email alert. Otherwise, I probably never would have seen this thread.

Awesome. Looks like 8 drivers in AR do exist I was thinking the pig trail is long but probably the best drive in AR aside from Mt Magazine. I'm going to be in va beacu june 30-july 7, so do we want to plan for the week after that? That gives 4 weeks for preparation. Thoughts?

Hey guys! My name is Thomas and I was one of the main event organizers for the last Texas State Wide event that we held in May. In talking with some of the other organizers I had suggested we hold another state meet in late October. However, it was generally agreed upon that a change of scenery would be nice. Some of the older members mentioned that there used to be a quad state meet (LA TX OK and AK) I was hoping to maybe have a couple local eyes weigh in on some routes and possible lodging destinations etc.

One of our members recomended this route:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...6,4.943848&z=8

I'd like to see what you guys think about it, or if you have some different suggestions. I was hoping to get some Mountain routes in there as they make awesome video material! Let me know.

Hey Thomas, I have driven from B to F on your map before (though not in my 8). They are some nice roads. From Ozark (in between E and F) to F on the map is part of the pig trail, which is a great curvy mountain road. The route looks like fun to me.

Hey, I would be up for it. I call that drive from Fayetteville down the Pig Trail and back up US 71, the "Loop". I have taken my 8 on that trip a few times. Always seem to put me in a better mood after I get back.

First or 2nd week in July would be better for me.

2nd week of July would be good. First week I'm out in va beach. That was the route I was thinking of taking, real fun drive with great scenery. Glad to see interest in getting something going...

Like I said earlier, just let me know an exact date. The second week of July would be fine with me, but I would have to ask off. What time of day would you do it? I actually go in at 4am and am usually off by 1pm, so if you plan on doing it in the afternoon I wouldn't really have to have the day off.

We still plan on doing this? My car has been begging me to go on some curvy roads. All this in town driving isn't very fun.

I am always up for a meet or run. I am off most Sat. and get off at around 1pm when I do work. Someone give me a time and place and I will be there.

I actually just drove the pig trail for the first time last Friday on the way to my grandparents.

I just got back into the area and was readying the thread. Glad to see some interest in doing a run. How about the second week of August? I do a lot of traveling during the summer months but things should be slowing down by that point. Any other suggestions? We can set a time and place to meet in Fayetteville and work out the exact course before hand. I'm hoping to get some good pics/video off of the run. Thanks!

Hey Guys I was just up your way this last weekend and had to go from Stilwell OK to Fort Smith. I drove to Evansville on 59 and headed south. Very nice run, didn't see any cops and the roads were curvy. It is just on the edge of the Ozark Nat Forest.
