Glad someone else in this thread had this opinion besides myself and one other.
I agree there's little harm (vs so many other cars that have iffy brakes) in leaving the RX-8 brake system alone. It can take some abuse before showing stress. So no harm, no foul pretty much sums it up for many.

But I would argue that the very aspect of the RX-8 brakes - that they are nearly bulletproof, reliable, and provide massive braking power - all stock - makes them all the more ripe for "playing with". Specifically, with the required braking engineering there and a given, mods to loose weight are easily accomplished (rotors, calipers). Undoubtedly mods provide other benefits under stress. But simply combined with lightweight wheels/tires one can and shed an amazing 10-15 pounds of unsprung weight and maintain all the Mazda given braking characteristics and more. We are blessed.

With most cars, with most brakes, you are playing braking performance catchup first, loosing weight is a bonus. How lucky we have it.

SS Lines: Great upgrade.

Rotors: I love the racing brake rotors, both 1 or 2-piece will work great. 2-piece if you plane to puch the car hard at the track.

Pads: I use ceramics on the steet and I have used both hp+ and dtc-60 (currently). The HP+ and DTC-60 are track only pads, dont use them on the street. They will cause noise and they are bad for the rotors.

I have not used HPS pads but from what I have heard they are a little better then ceramics but more noise and dust. You can use both the ceramics and the HPS pads for dual street and track use, it just depends on how hard you push the car at the track and how much dust/noise you can deal with.

My overall recommendation is to use your stock rotors for the street, resurface them and use ceramic pads. Buy a second set of rotors 1 or 2 piece and use them with the race pads that fit your driving.

Racing Roots: Brice seems to have improved and learned his lesson about selling custom parts that are not in stock. He keeps a bunch of racing brake rotors and hawk pads in stock. If he says he has them, he should ship the same or the next day. So if he has the best prices, then go for it. I have given him a chance on a few things lately and he has come through.
Thanks Scott it is appreciated for the truthful comments.

He just refunded another guy after complaints because he could not deliver coil overs that were paid for. I'm really tired of people getting screwed around on this board. He sure as hell is quick to take that money though.

Yeah it sounds like he has really learned his lesson

Also, I placed a web based order with RR and it turned out 2 of the 3 items were out of stock. He emailed me right away to tell me the eta and asked what I wanted to do. I canceled the order and got my money back right away.

So if he has the best price, I say go for it but if he says its in stock and gives you a shipping ETA, he better stick to it. If not, despute the payment right away. There is no reason someone should wait weeks or months to dispute it.
Bingo I like my life easy, I prefer my customers to email me or PM me to ask me what I have or don't have. 9Krpm thinks I lie to my customers I don't just email me and I will tell you what is up and if I have it in stock or how long it will take.

I run rotor pro's slotted/dimpled rotors with posiquiet pads, ss brakelines and superblue fluid. I love them and they were only $260 shipped w/ pads and blue painted hats.

To be honest:

Get speedbleeders. They are the simplest easiest enhancement you can do for your brake system.

to improve the brake performance all you need are SS lines and new pads.

Also save money for tires b/c at the point where you get fast enough to necessitate a braking upgrade you are going to be chewing through tires.

This man speaks the truth.

My instructor at ECR raced an RX8 and Miata in Autocross and tracks across the country and he was asking me what I had done to the car. I told him about the HPS pads and he actually said he prefered stock pads because he felt that had more bite, which given the amount of dust they produced I could easily believe.

+1

I ordering my slotted rotors, HPS pads, Fluid, and SS lines from him. I told him that I had a slight time crunch before a track day and he got everything to me ASAP and kept in touch
