Bryan/College Station 8's

So I got a job with Texas A&M University and will be moving to the B/CS area next month.

I was wondering if there were any 8's up there. If so do you do any sort of meets or anything or am I going to have to come back down to Houston for any meet-ups?

I frequent CS when I can. I do the A&M sportscarclub auto crosses with my friends that live there. They have a pretty decent amount of them per semester. You might check it out, most of the people are nice.

Moving to Texas from California... Wife got a deal with A&M for school. Planning on spending the next 3-5 years there. Sounds cool huh? Well, we shall see. Like to meet up with anyone there. Gonna need some friends.

I'll be in CS on starting on the 9th. All you other 8's better wave back, people here in the Nasa Area have no manners.

Haha, I hate that. It happens in Monterey all the time! And I'm not talking just old people, people my age or younger don't wave back. I didn't have this issue when I owned my corrado, just started thinking it was Mazda people. If I see you I will wave.

I live about 15 minutes away from college station in a little town called Navasota haha. But I'll be moving up there for school within a couple of months.

I'd gladly wave at you if I were to be driving next you in mine, but you'd have to promise not to laugh back at me for driving an automatic, which seems to be what the majority of this forum would end up doing.

Not the transmission type that counts (though the fact that you cant launch in first sucks), its the driver behind the wheel that makes all the dif. We have a couple people in DFW with autos one of which we NEVER bad mouth... mainly cuse he out drives us Course there is one guy that we give **** to all the time for his auto, but thats a very special case

Haha thanks for the encouragement, however, being an 18 year old chick probably makes the bad difference. I still have a lot of experience to gain when it comes to driving like a badass. The only thing I can do now is steal pretty glances from everyone.

Being young in an 8 does have a certain amount of **** baggage attached (at least in our group, especially if your parents paid for it). Being a chick on the other hand can depend on certain factors. If you got the car for looks and nothing else and just drive the car like a normal car... there is **** attached to that, but on the other hand if you drive it like you stole it on a normal basis then that gives you lots of cool points... So many girls in the DFW area just bought the car because it looks cool, and don't have a friggin clue the kind of corner eater the 8 really is. Its really sad

I'm paying for my car notes, so that's in the clear. They're helping me with insurance however, because I'm starting school in the fall.

I will admit that the looks hooked me the first time I saw it, but I had looked into it for a while before choosing to get one. I was actually wanting a standard, but my parents refused it because they thought I'd wreck it and/or kill myself in it. Basically, I drive the **** out of it when I can haha. My favorite thing to do is show it off in front of the locals here, since it's the only one in town.

I'd gladly wave at a pretty girl driving an 8

Don't worry about the auto thing or the being a chick thing. It all really just depends on who you. The fact that you're actually on this forum shows that you care somewhat about your car which is a plus and you probably already know 10 times as much as most of the men who drive 8's (sad, but true). So just keep driving hard and I don't think you'll have a problem.

Surely there has to be another 8 in Navasota. For crying out loud, I think there's 3 in Waller.

Yeah, I've only recently gotten interested in cars as something more than an object of transportation thanks to my boyfriend. Pretty much the main reason I looked into getting my rx-8. It intrigued me. That and the guys that race their sillycars around here have nothing to say about it simply because of what it is. (:

And I actually believe there's another SOMEWHERE around here. It's a nordic green one, and contains a family. Haha. The only other one I've seen in Navasota. One woman had one a couple of years ago, a beautiful silver '06 6-speed AT. But she flooded it, because she had absolutely no idea what kind of car it was. And on its way to the dealership it was destroyed by an 18-wheeler.

I'm packing up and moving out. Going to leave California on the 27th... Found a job at the Bryan AT&T store so if you are in that area hit me up. Like I said, i'm gonna need some friends when I get there because i don't know anyone... BTW just installed LED parking lights and Tail lights from V-Leds and have to say i love them more than the ones i bought from rx8strakes, lets hope these don't burn out in 60 days..

Monstermatt, just noticed that you like MXPX, we might have more in common than our 8's...

Mike,
Let me know when you get in town. I see a lot of 8's around, but no one is ever driving them! I think they live at northgate.

Also, if you're into MMA and MxPx, I'll have to introduce you to some people.

I'll be in town for sure on Thursday. I just messed up my car though. Ran over a Tire on the 10 ripped off my front lip, all the undercarrage plastic and part of the back bumper not to mention dented my radiator and CAI. Super frump. I'll post pics later. No computer, only iPhone.

I'll u my number when I can figure it out. Or IM you.

I'll be in town with my 8 from 8/6-8/9, so if you see a nordic with yellow corners, that's me.

That sucks, I know the feeling. I ran over a ladder on 45 and it ripped up all kinds of crap back in early spring.

I've got an apartment up there already, just still in the process of moving everything into it! So by the end of August, I too, will be in town.

Kristi, does your 8 have a pink princess sticker on it? Also, who has the silver 8 with the blacked out lights?

We should start having meets at sweet Eugenes starting now. Monstermatt and myself are there now. If you can't make it today let's all figure out a time to meet up.

We'll have a meet there in a week or two after school starts back. I'll start a new thread when we decide to do it again.

Any news on a meet? I want some coffee... And a new front end, one that's not broken...
