I attended the Dallas show this morning and talked the Mazda rep into letting me sit in the car since I had pre-ordered. Unfortunately as has been posted before, the driver seat was set forward about half way and I was unable to determine how much room is truly available. They apparently position the driver seat this way to make the back seat look fairly comfortable.
The Mazda rep, was about 6'2 which is the same height as me and he said that with the moon roof the headroom is marginal. I was less than impressed with the condition of the interior, the rep admittedly said it was in bad shape since it was a pre-production car and had been put through the ringer as a demo.
In fact, the material on the interior roof looked like the demonstrator who had been getting in and out of the car had a bad dye job in his hair as there were black smudges all over the place.
All in all, the car is still truly gorgeous. The pictures simply do not do it justice. I am still very anxious as to the amount of available leg/headroom until I can actually sit in my own car when it is delivered Nonetheless I was impressed.

Anyone know if a moonroof will be available with cloth seats in the USA?
I went, last Saturday afternoon (my digital camera is not working but my wife took some traditional photos that we have yet to develope)... we couldn't sweet talk (usually my wife is really good at it) either of the 2 Mazda reps to let us inside, but I did get the female rep to open up the trunk for us to look inside.
:D
That made me a pretty happy camper (there's room for our baby stroller)... otherwise the space size looks like a tie between the G35 coupe (luckly for me, my wife likes the "looks" of the RX-8 much better!
BUT, I did hear one thing that has me worried - while I was talking to the mazda spokeswoman "Sol" (not to be confused with the spokesman that was there that was over 6'- she was much shorter ) about what she knows about the car (about as much as we do) but see did get to drive one ... anyway as she was telling me ... as far as see knows, if you want "cloth" seats - you will NOT be able to order the moonroof together. The moonmroof only is available with leather seats.
I want my seats to be cloth and I aslo want a moonroof! Does anyone know how true this is? I'm aware that I've seen it mentioned at some other posts that for some countries that a "moonroof" is only available with "leather" seats...
(On the RX-8 that she has ordered, she personally doesn't mind not having the extra weight from the moonroof, but wants the cloth seats ... but I do mind)

Leather and all the heated gewgaws come with the Grand Touring package.
You cannot get leather without a moonroof, but you most certainly can get a moonroof without leather. In the US market anyway.
