You read my mind, Canary.

I know I'll miss some fun, but right now this is more important. I'll make it to future cannonballs.

I'll have to pass on this one too, as I'll be down in Fredericksburg that weekend.

Oh la la!!

Methinks I shall be in. I've been looking foreward to something like this since i ditched my girlfriend. hah Now that I won't have someone in the passenger seat going "slow down you are scaring me" blah blah blah.

Even though I'm in fort worth ill go

Now, i know ill sound like a complete noob... but just to make sure i'm on the same page, bascially its a run around the 635 loop as fast as you feel you can do it right? Now I realize this isn't exacly legal and I already got a speeding ticket 2 weeks ago for 88 in 55

Not to sound like a pill but what are the possible risks of doing this, BESIDES getting a speeding ticket? I just have visions of getting thrown in jail and my car getting locked up or something from the cops.

Also a question to ask -- what is the probability that cops will know of this "event" and actually target our group?

I'm very very very interested in coming out and doing the run, and partying with yall so let me know

Cheers!
Jeff

Well, they change the map and route up each time... so you should be ok. Hollywood can answer better as he is the Gulf Forum cannonball expert, heheh.

Oh, i won't be able to attend since i drive slow, and i also have a race the next morning.

If you go Toxin, just be aware that some drivers throw caution to the wind and do whatever they please, where ever they please (i.e. the shoulder), as fast as they can without thinking of those around them. This won't be just an RX7 or RX8 thing. There will probably be all sorts of imports there ranging from the SRT4s to Supras. It's a lot of fun, with an average speed of 90 mph and hitting 110+ a few times, many opportunities to shoot serious flames... but it can be dangerous if you're not extremely aware of the other drivers.

well the cannonball is not a race, its a spirited drive with a party at the end. not everyone speeds there are some people that just cruise with each other. the group of us at the front were cruising at about 130, though we did get up to 160 a few times. most people were doing 80-90 though.

Normally, but I honked at a cop and that is what it turned into. You know how it happens, you are the sexiest car in a group and you stand out like a ***** in church so you get punished for it. I live in memorial park area and got zapped on washington st. I just have to show them a picture of my plate somewhere on the front and they will dismiss it.

Interesting. So you can get the ticket dismissed in texas just by adding the plate.
Now i definetely have no reason to put the plate on at this time

I also still have my original front plate holder with brackets so i dont have to drill into the new bumper... but can just clip it to the grill (i think). Still in plastic too

I was arrested for not having a front plate in farmers branch one day while driving my corvette, I think my attitude might have had something to do with it.
anyway, can we get this stickied?

Cruising at 130! Tops of 160!

You must not be driving an Rx-8!

arrested? wow talk about some crap. While the attitude thing might not have been that smart, I would have assumed cops would arrest the REAL bad people, you know murdurers and theives and such.

glad to know tax dollars go to pay for such idiocy on the cops part.

well thanks to a bent rim I will not be going. Nothing serious, only noticable when i get up to 80-90mph... not even phycially noticable but yeah... i gotta pay around 125 according to discount tire so they can send the wheel somwhere to get fixed.

anyone know any wheel shops in DFW that can do this kinda thing?
