Perhaps it's the old adage of "if you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it."

Just stay home Thomas.

Hrm... what time does the autox go till? Wondering if I can slip it in and still get to the wedding in time.

Well its not that I cant afford it (because I can)

Its a perceived value for what I'm getting.

If the perceived value is low while the price is high, its not likely I am going to spend money on it.

LOL, now THAT is dedication. It depends on how many people we end up getting but I'm going to guess it should be over between 3 and 4 PM.

There's a difference. $200 normally buys you 4 sessions of 20 minutes of driving per. So that's 80 minutes of driving for $200 which breaks down to $2.50 a minute whereas an autocross is usually about 8 runs that are only 40 seconds at this venue which breaks down to 320 seconds of driving (or 5 minutes) for $20 which is $4.00 a minute. For bang for your buck the track day is a slightly better deal but you don't get the timed competition factor at a HPDE which is why I love autocross.

If any of you want to come check out the event but are not ready to drive many of us can give you a ride to show you what it's like. Warning though, I will be there on race tires so you may want to ditch your RX-8 when you're done getting a ride. I know I did!

Yep, we will have headsocks for purchase. I think I've seen you at a few events, maybe it's time to invest in an entry level helmet? Even a M2000 open face would do. It's well worth having your own.

Something like this:

you have the emergency tire pressure pump? just use that to fill up pressure. You will want to lower your tire pressure slightly front and back, and adjust after each run. If it's your 1st time, you really don't have to care about the gas, just go with full tank, u'd probably refill when you go home that night.

Event is now full. I would come with at least half a tank of gas. The car likes to fuel starve if you run less than a 1/4 tank. There's a gas station literally across the street as well so you can get gas during lunch if you need it.

If you're a newbie just come with a full tank, the 30 pounds you save won't do anything to make you more competitive.

The event is now full as we hit our cap of 60 drivers.

im not going to do anything special. also, i usually find myself letting pressure out of the tires. you'll still want the pump for the end of the day, to fill them back up.

Don't worry about an alignment or anything special if this is your first time. Just make sure your oil is topped off, car is cleaned out and it's in good mechanical shape (lug nuts tightened, brakes work ok etc). It's a pretty small lot and fairly low speed so just treat it as a learning experience your first few times out.

You may even get beat by a girl in a Mini Cooper S (don't feel bad)

That's a good attitude. And don't worry, she hasn't autocrossed in probably a year so it will probably take some time to knock the rust off. She's fast though, afterall she is MY g/f
