DFW - bowling

There was talk of a bowling outing since we missed this past week at BJs. Just wondering how many people would be interested. if we can get it together fast enough this sunday would be fine. lets get a head count. I have a coupon for a free game, not including shoe rental, for up to 10 people at AMF lanes. first come first serve for that.

so whos interested?

So here's the thing. First of all, I'm down, but I have to work at 3:30 this Sunday. Secondly, I may have family in town, so I don't know and I don't think I will know if I'll have that obligation until they are actually here. My sister's moving this Saturday and the parents are coming to help her...no idea what their plans are or if I will be entertaining...anyone else coming? So if the parents are gone, can I bring my sister with me? She has a 6, it's pretty sweet, and she's wanting to meet everyone.

How about instead of bowling you guys bring your cars out to autocross and actually use them for what they were made for instead of sitting in a parking lot There is an autocross both saturday and sunday at Texas Motor Speedway as well as Pennington field Bedford.

Uh...that was a burn! Although I guess we have been using the thread a bit more for socializing than we should. What's all the autocross info? Never been to one.

LOL...238hp, 50/50 weight distribution, 12.7" brakes, LSD, CF driveshaft. Lets put this stuff to use!

Autocross is basically racing on a course in a large parking lot marked with cones. It helps you learn car control, and lets you push the car at the limit in a safe environment. Competitors are timed against other cars in their class so you race against time not wheel to wheel. Speeds are typically reach the 50-90 mph range depending on the lot.

The RX-8 actually does VERY well in it's class, it has won first at the national competition with SCCA the last 3 years in a row. Here is a video of one of my runs this year in my Miata to give you guys an idea. The North TX S2000 club, BMWCCA, Porsche club and SCCA all host events throughout the month, some of you guys should stop by, it's a blast!

I have been meaning to go to an autocross for a few months now, havent had the time. Im going out to Cresson on the 28th though. As for the one this sunday, i'd like more information about that, ive never been.

I dont think we'll get enough people for the bowling this week, so how about next.

Yes, yes, next week would be perfect, I think. I'll be in Texas and no out of town guests! This week has been retarded busy, I feel old and tired! And my car is dirty and I cannot find time to wash it, I've been having nightmares.

Sorry to disrupt the thread some more, but here's what you guys missed at TMS on Saturday:

Here's the only car that was faster (gutted 3 series with a LS1 and huge tires):

I saw your entry and results, glad to hear you made it ok and had fun. I ended up driving the S2000 at the Porsche autocross to a 1st place class win. There was also a Dodge Ram pickup truck, and a 60's Caddilac convertible that must've been 16 feet long. I was able to almost keep up with it on foot around the skidpad

You guys need to come out and ride with Miatamoto, he will scare the sh*t out of you and you will never believe how good the RX-8 can handle.

Here's my run from yesterday at the PCA club. I was 2nd fastest behind a supecharged Elise on race tires and coilovers.

Don't feel bad, I've been out of town and sick and the 8 hasn't been driven lately anyway...we'll figure something out soon! Have fun at the track!
