DFW Gun Range

DFW Gun Range
Going on April 19th for my 6 month check on my concealed carry sights if anyone wants to join. I won't be bringing anything other than my H&K USP Compact .40 S&W. Its a military model compact so its decent sized if you have never shot an H&K I don't mind others shooting as long as you don't drop it. I will be there around 7pm.

That would be a fun adventure to rent a smg but I don't think they rent them . Just let me know if your coming because if enough people show up, Ill add to it maybe going out to get food too. Turn it into a meet. I know a couple mazda guys in Dallas want to go so if more than 5 or 6 people show up we should all go out get some food and drink it up.

They do rent guns and have a large selection. The best way to go about it is tell the guy you want to figure out what gun fits your hand. Be open to new suggestions and don't go in thinking about a brand. Be thinking about control and comfort. The better it fits your hand the more enjoyment and fun you will have and the more control you will have. If you have never been you do however have to go through a short class thing. Its been years but I think it was less than 10 mins. Its a safety issue. You fill out a piece of paper, then read a safety rule list then he asks you like 3 or 4 questions.

On the fence currently about replacing the sights with Heinie's Straight 8's. Damn Germany's ban on exporting radioactive materials.

There is an HK USA which is where I am sending mine. My mark 23 has night sights, but this one doesn't I want to get night sights installed. Also I will be getting the trigger pull for double action reduced and smoothed out. Its smooth as it is but things can always be better. I haven't shot thier P30 is that just a model down from USP?

Model up actually. Came out after the USP and it's of comparable size to the USP compact .40. They switched their proprietary rail with a standard picatinny rail, inter-changeable grip plate sizes for effectively a custom fit, more accessible magazine release (now on both sides of the trigger guard, and a de-cocking mechanism, along with some other modifications.
I hadn't noticed that HK USA offered that. I will have to look into it. Thanks.

my USP is one I got while in the military and it has all of that. But it also came with a hair trigger, 2lbs less on the double action trigger pulls, it has the rail system, the magazine release is on both sides, and it has decocking as all usp/military models have. But mine also came with novak combat adjustable sights, the lock that I think all of them have in the grip, a match grade barrel, custom spring rate, match grade trigger pull.
I tried looking at the differences but I have a feeling the model I have is not the stock sold model. The trigger pull is higher on the stock one, its a 10 round magazine, mines a 12 round, and the model I see for sale online doesn't have the same sights. Mines heavier than the P30 with a .3inch shorter barrel.
Mine is 2oz heavier but I would have to shoot yours to see a difference. I have not fired the P30 models, I am curious though now as to exactly what differences are in mine vs the compact 40 they sell in stores.

Sounds like there are quite a few differences from yours and the stock USP compact 40. Sounds like they may have made the orig version of the USP, then mil spec, and took mods from that and carried them into the P30 for the next public release.
