Scratch my previous statement, yet another day gone by where I'm screwed! Freeman received 5 today and mine wasn't one of them. I'm seriously considering jumping ship and buying an allocation car at another dealer.

tank Hold On!!!
tank:
If yours is a pre-order, hang in. There is $hit load of them coming to Freeman's in the next 48 hours. Just hang in there. I talked with Mazda Management yesterday and today in California and they assured me that pre-orders everywhere in the Gulf Region are going to be flowing to dealers. I would not be surprised to see your tomorrow or Thursday at the worst assuming it is a pre-order.
P/M me if I can help.
BTW, Mine is Titanium but I saw the Red. I know have Red envy. It looks great. Red is Rad!!!:p :p :p

Hey brownchiro, I hope you don't mind, but I used your name when I went and ordered my RX-8 last night.
Wyatt and his GM changed a car that is inbound with their next shipment for me, so I should have the car by Mid / Late September, but I will get exactly what I want.

Got my new baby on Sat. 2/7/2004 - It is the classic Titanium Gray with leather Chaps, (since leather, it is the GT package...), 6spd - no spoiler - no NAV (can't see paying 2K for such a toy!)
2 miles on the ODO (60 after the Sunday Drive....!)
I got it at Town North Mazda - Richardson. I had looked at Hancock in Mesquite & and Prestige down in Duncanville. Why didn't I buy from the other 2?
Prestige: The DMN Sat ad said - $3500 off MSRP - with no disclaimer - First the sales idiot claimed that he knew nothing about the ad... then I got shuffled between 2 sales guys and then to the sales manager all within 5 min. of getting on the lot - turns out that it was only good for 1 car (major miles) - classic bait and switch ploy - well I got outta there fast!
Hancock: They did take me on a test drive - but they just yanked one randomly out of inventory. They didn't have a demo car - The thing that really got me was that the sales guy did a redline rev on an engine that had 3 miles on it - wanted to hear it beep! I figured out that I didn't want to buy from them....
Why Town North? - They have been around a long time...- they only sell Mazdas. They have certified their Techs on the RX8 - I really liked my sales guy - Gary. What did I pay? About a $1000 over invoice and about a $1000 under MSRP. They also were willing to swap out around a couple of the add-ons.... I know that if I had played the Internet email game that I could I shaved a few more bucks - But I felt that it was Win/Win - The finance guy did try to sell me the xtended warrenty stuff and the id stuff - I said no to both.... I already had my loan and they couldn't touch the rate - I had no trade-ins - I knew what cash I wanted to put down - so all that kept the games at a min. Overall a very good and easy buying experence - Of course I had done the homework KBB/Edmonds, had the money worked out - so sale was done in less than an hour - didn't even have to talk to the Sales Manager!
I was all set to do the internet bidding game - but once I saw the car I wanted, in the trim I wanted, with 2 miles (a true VIRGIN) - it was love at first sight!
So if you see a mid 40ish male WASP doing the mid-life crisis thing in the Mesquite or Telcom corridor area, that's me!

MesquiteRX8,
I also bought my 8 from Town North. I live over in Keller and Hurst is right around the corner, but I felt they were playing too many games.
I went out to Town North and Gary was also my sales guy. Nice guy and yes...I got practically the same deal you did. About $1000 over invoice. Same color, same package but I got the spoiler as well.
I was happy with Town North and Gary and would recommend to anyone in the area. I drove 40 miles to get there and buy when I had a dealership about 3 miles away. That should say something.

I purchased my 8 from Hancock Mazda in January. I asked to drive the newest red one on the lot (3 miles on odomoter). The salesperson, Arthur, was great. He let me pull the car out of the lot after reminding me to let the car warm up first which impressed me.
I told him upfront I was already knowledgable about the car and wasn't interested in playing games. The whole process went very smoothly. I dropped him off at the dealership, he gave me $10 for gas and I took it for a drive alone.
When I got back I had him place a sold sticker on the car and had the car a couple days later. I absolutely love the car.

I get mine next month.
I was planning on purchasing from town north as it's right next to my office, but eldorado in mckinney gave me a better price on the car.
If you go to eldorado, do NOT deal with their dealers on site. They will not deal with you, or at least they would not deal with me. Go through the fleet/internet dealers. They gave me the actual invoice prices on everything and let me pick all my options. I get to put down money on the car on friday so they'll order it for me and hopefully it'll be here by march 5th, when I plan to pick it up.

How many of the DFW RX8 owners are going to join texasrx club? I have been thinking about it but I dont see that much happens with these guys. Maybe if I actually become a member I might learn more but @ $30 for a wish and a prayer seems steep.

I have already talked to Town North Mazda (talked to Bob) and believe that is where I will go to make the purchase, as they were quite easy to talk to without much hassle.
To you guys that paid $1k under MSRP there, did you set it up on a lease or pay it all up front? I'm considering paying it all up front because I believe this will be a long term car for me.
Thanks,
Max

I'll say again that you should not buy from eldorado in mckinney no matter what. Don't go there, don't bother.
Friday they arranged to get my car from another dealer in Arlington. I was told the car was new and had everything I wanted for 400 over invoice after 500 dollar recent graduate discount. Elorado told me friday night that they would get me the car and have it there saturday so I could purchase it. Saturday morning, they call me up and say they have the car in, but hey, it has 600 miles on it already.
Lemme put it this way. 600 miles is NOT a new car. That's a demo car. 600 miles is even worse when the car happens to have a 600 mile break in period. Basically I turned down the deal and requested my 250 dollar deposit back to which I was told they'd be keeping my deposit. I told them to shove it and refund the deposit or they could deal with american express next month. Then they went on and on about how they could lose their jobs from getting a 30k car from another dealer and how I gave them my word that I'd buy the car.
Had the car been a NEW car, I would've purchased it. It just got weirder from there. The dealer then told me I wouldn't find another one like it anytime soon and I told him I already had (which I had) and I'd be getting a car with no miles on it during the second week in march. I found one in Hiley Mazda's inventory that hadn't even been delivered yet that I will be purchasing. So I got off the phone w/eldorado and went out to hurst, only to find out the dealers at hiley used to work at eldorado! Why did they leave? Shadey business practices. 5 dealers left eldorado and 4 of those 5 were working at hiley.
On my way to hurst, I got 2 calls from eldorado asking me to come back in and purchase a car from them as they've just found out that they have exactly what I want coming in off the truck in 2 days. Yea, if that's the case, why didnt they try to sell me that car to begin with?
Your guess is probably the same as mine. Stay away from Eldorado mazda in McKinney. Town north did try to get me a car with miles on it as well, but at least they told me up front rather than letting me think I was getting a new car and then telling me when they were ready to sell.

My advice: Do your homework, know what you are going to pay and have your money worked out. That will make the deal simple... Leases can be complex and they will try to get you everytime...
I also plan on keeping the car for many years...

Do you mind mentioning the people that you dealt with?
I'm in the market for an RX8 between now and November, and was considering Eldorado because of their close proximity.
Regardless, thanks for the info.
