DFW RX8 Mechanic
Anyone know of a good DFW RX8 Mechanic. The dealerships charge way too much and all the import shops that I know of are real fuzzy about rotary engines. Its my first rotary and my first post so help a newb out. Thanks

Not Hay's
Called this "Master Technician" because I had a check engine light. He said to bring it in, but he couldn't get to it that day, I was like alright, I didn't have anything planned and I could wait til the next day. This was on Tuesday. Wednesday around 11:30 I get a call stating that he can't get it started. "Cranks but won't start" I asked him when he moved the car into the garage did he let it warm up before turning it off? No. Then I told him well, you've flooded the motor. He said he will see what he can do and call me back. Thursday, I ended up having to tow my car (yes drove in - towed out) to the dealership. I asked him since he was responsible for flooding the engine out, if he was going to at least pay for the towing. He said that he didn't feel that it was his fault and that it was the car's fault. I'm like "dude! with any car, you should at least let it warm up before cutting off the motor." I feel that if he wasn't familiar with rotary engines, then he should have been honest with me up front and told me that he didn't know how to work on them.
Looks like I'll be taking him to small claims court to get reimbursed for the towing and for the cost of having the dealership de-flood my engine. Wish me luck.
By the way, his shop is called Hay's Automotive and it's located on Hwy 377 in Benbrook. F-ing idiot!!!

^^ Exactly, the best place for fixes with this car is THIS FORUM. Every single issue that has ever arised with the 8 is covered here. Do your research here to at least get a good idea of the problem, and THEN take it to a reputable dealer if you cant fix it yourself. Go in to the dealership armed with the info from this site and inform them of the info you obtained here, that way they have an idea of whats up goin in as well as know that you arent some clueless 8 owner. One thing i would do no matter what is tell them to let it warm up no matter how far/short distance they are moving it (of course they should know all about the 8 and flooding but there are plenty of documented cases of dealerships ignoring this and flooding the engine). This way of they DO flood it, you can at least say you "i told you so".

Classic in Denton has been very good to me. Minus one hiccup, they have gone above and beyond when it comes to servicing my vehicle and making sure things are covered under warranty.
