The only spacers that I had used that worked were phenolic (sp?) spacers in a KL-ZE. The idea was simply to separate most of the intake system from the heat of the engine as the phenolic acted as an insulator. It was a step towards keeping your intake charge as cool as possible and heat soak to a minimum. Dont know if it actually did anything other than a percieved "it feels better". If you want some real testing, buy yourself a dyno run (pack o' 3) and test w/ it on and off.
That said, I cannot see a volume increase doing very much at all...short of detuning the intake path. I still hope I would be wrong...

I havent seen it add any power at all except when the power is fairly great and airflow is needed badly. Now if you had upgraded to a turbo on ur 8 then I see it making a difference and helping. But on a stock or mildly modded 8 I think it is a wasted spending.
