First Ticket
I got my first speeding ticket last night in Zavalla, Texas!! I was leaving my friends house at 1 this morning and doing the speed limit(I can't believe it either), until the signs changed. I guess that I wasn't paying attention and got a ticket for 62 in a 45. I told the guy that it was basically bullsh*t! There's no one out and i made a little mistake. It's not like I was messing with the radio, on the phone, or drinking. He then told me to calm down, before he takes me in for being disorderly. Now he's asking why I have a MS driver's license, a LA insurance card, and how I can afford my car. I then tell him in the nicest way to just give me the ticket and he can have a nice night !! The guy goes back to his car, sits there for almost 30 minutes, checking my record or whatever he does back there. Then he's gives me the ticket, says it's a really nice car, and to slow down. I was going almost 85 through there earlier. Zavalla only has about 500 people in that village...and that's counting the animals. Still I've learned my lesson, I'm getting a new radar detector asap :D :D :D

first things first man...don't give lip to an officer. even if he's being a dick or what not. he still got that uniform on and has a lot more power than you do. just don't say anything, hand him whatever he wants, your done. also, if a cop says you're doing 62 in a 45 mph zone, ask him if you can see the radar. otherwise, he doesn't have **** on you.
anyways, now that you've already got your ticket, just wait for them to send you a court date. go to court, if the officer is present, just plead guilty. don't explain yourself, the judge does not want to hear any excuses. they're usually the lowest man on the judge-totem-pole. the judge will probably ask you if you want to give up your right to appeal, just say yes, there's no point in appealing your 62 in a 45. most likely you will get a PBJ, maybe a point, but i doubt it, since it's your first ticket. that all depends on how nice your judge is tho. if the officer isn't present, you're a free man!! no court fees, no nothing.
i don't know if this applies to every single state, but this past weekend i went through all of this. i was caught doing 75 in a 55. in the end, i got PBJ and only had to pay 80 + the court fee with no points....thank god. if i get caught again, i'm in trouble....cross my fingers.

speaking of first tickets...
I just came back from a drive down to south padre area with my wife (our anniversary today :D ) and this morning I was pulled over for what I thought was speeding... (just dropped from 70 to 55 to 35 in a mile or so)
She pulled me over since my temp plates are issued for longer than 21 days (the max allowed apparently lol)... of course I had no control over that, the dealer made them. Then she tells me they're supposed to be below just like a normal plate (didn't know that either...dealer put it there). So I give her my insurance... .... ... oh **** this is my wife's insurance card before my car got put on it AND it's expired! lol oops. at least my DL was valid!
to make it short...she only gave me a warning and said "enjoy your honeymoon or anniversary or whatever! "
guess it doesn't really count as a first ticket afterall... :p

Hey I got my first ticket last week. I own a V1 radar detector. It does not work if the cop eyes you and does not use the radar. That cop broke such a wonderful streak. But the v1 is so worth it. It has save my *** so many times

Valentine 1 is best, I bought mine over 12 yrs ago
the only time I ever got tickets is when I left it in the other car, etc. which taught me a lesson, haven't had one in over 3 or 4 yeas now but I don't get crazy either, you get surprised-hit with instant on radar it won't matter what detector you have, you're dead meat

Tickets are harder to take when you really didn't mean to speed and just make a mistake. It's always easier to accept the ticket when you are fully aware of the results of going 20 miles over the speed limit and at the moment, willing to pay the price. I never go any faster than I can afford to go and sometimes, I think I'm rich. :o

I got busted today going 120 in a 60. going to Austin on 35. I got pulled over by a State Trooper. when I saw the lights come on I was like **** this is going to hurt. I pulled over and the officer told me to step out of my car and place my hands to the trunk and stay there. After about 5 mins the officer came over to me and said that based on my speed he was going to have to hand cuff me while he searched my car. At this point i am just like what the heck is going to happen next. He sits me on the side of the road facing oncoming traffic so I am just watching all these people drive by slowing down to see me sitting there hand cuffed. The officer finally comes back over to me and undoes the hand cuffs. then he turns me around and says Ruben you are a lucky little S.O.B I was like huh. then he tells me that had it been any other officer I would be in a world of crap. Finally he turns me around and I get a good look at him, It is my bestfriends dad I had totally forgotten that he was a state trooper. Turns out he just felt like giving me some crap with the whole hand cuff thing. You know a story to tell when I am hanging out around thier house. He told me that I drive pretty good at high speeds and that he had been watching me a little while before he hit the lights. then he told me that I will have to take him for a ride in my car some day, and that he is having a bbq this weekend for his family and he wants me to go. After that he told me to be on my way and to watch out cause there were 4 other troopers on 35 that day he told me where they like to hang out and then he sent me on my way. And sure enough as I kept driving right where he said I saw 4 different cops setting up speed traps. It was one hell of a afternoon started off looking like **** but then just turned into one of those stories that I will never forget.

U are a lucky S.O.B. Damn... why couldn't that happen to me? Get away with driving 120, and then get invited to a BBQ by the cop who pulled me over? OH, and then tell you to watch for other cops up ahead!? DAng... lucky S.O.B!

yeah I know I got lucky but I am still going to learn for it and lay off the gas a little cause next time it might out be him that pulls me over and then i would be in a world of crap. Well i will lay off for a couple months but if I get that supercharger in about 3 months "Gas peddle meet mister floor board."
