Houston Chapter BMW Autocross 6/8/2008
Registration is open now!
All RX-8's are invited. This Sunday due to other events in the region there is a good possibility the turn out is less than usual and we get more runs in!
The Houston Chapter BMW autocross is held at Houston Police Academy. Click below for the map.

Register at www.DLBracing.com
You must register online! Registration closes Friday night. Its $35 to register (I think $25 with a full SCCA membership) Expect extra traction and at least 6 runs.
If you have any questions post in the thread or even PM me and I'll help you out.
See this thread for pictures from the last HPA(Houston Police Academy) event.

Edit: Bring SUNBLOCK! Maybe even a hat as well. I think I will hopefully bring a cooler of ice and water.

Beat me to thread creation again
Some additional info:
*ALL* RX-8s run in class X2, regardless of mods.
Beginners/first timers are welcome
Due to limited space in their staging area, I would recommend gutting your car at home. And I quite literally mean "gutting". Empty out every coin tray, take all the floor mats out, remove every last shred of paper from every last compartment, and your own roll of painter's tape.
As soon as you park, put your numbers and class letters on your car & open everything - their tech inspectors tend to work early & fast and then disappear. You should also wait by your car until the inspector comes - they might just skip your car if you aren't there.
Aside from how fast they push everyone to get ready, and their stricter saftey policies, they're still a fun and friendly group, so don't be afriad to ask as many questions as you have to - they don't mind

If you need anyone to vouch for the problem let me know. I can call them and tell them I witnessed it first hand!
I can't think of any place over in that area you can take a tech out to kill the fuel pump. That area is heavy on traffic all day.

haha chad, the dealer called me to ask about the service from the time before, i told them the problem came back, they told me to bring it in, so on the way home i drove on 4th gear and 3rd gear on the highway and paid my rent, then on the way to mazda i found a highschool parking lot (empty) did kidney stuff there.. well.. it happened... so i rushed over and basically gave their service manager an autocross ride and showed him the symptoms. lol
oh, bob was nice enough to pay for one day on my rental... and i managed to ****** a mustang!... big slow and bulky but.. auto close window!!!

A bump for pictures from the Gulf Greyhound event.

I can't think of a better place to clean out the carbon build up in your engine than an autocross event. I might have a co-driver at BMW.

My friend forwarded these tips to me below:

I thought these tips may help. I almost did everything wrong at Gulf Greyhound...especially tip number 5...My tires got a beating .
Edit: I was told Andy Hollis is famous in the autocross world, but I'm sure some of you may have heard his name.

Good tips, but it takes a little bit of practice to do some of those things well. I like to ride with someone else before I drive it so I can figure out how much speed I can carry and the braking points. It also helps me look ahead.

It seems like everyone who autocrosses are either computer nerds or in the engineering business, at least in the Houston area.
