Houston folks - hows your gas mileage given our traffic/heat?

Not to create another gas mileage thread, but it would be interesting to here how our region's conditions is affecting gas mileage, especially the heat and Houston traffic.

I live in the Galleria area, and 70+ % of my driving is Galleria/Inside the Loop. What are you guys averaging...specially my Galleria/Inside the Loop folks?

In addition, with all this rain, how's the car handling? I really wanna here from the non-DCS folks on this one.

I get about 12. Typically see 150 -175 pr tank of 13 gallons.

I drive 5 minutes to work. About two miles. Then I drive to lunch or to JSC. About two miles. Then I go home, two miles again. Around the time the engine gets warm it its time to turn it off.

When I have travelled longer distances I have seen 18-20 on the highway going 70-80.

I do not have DSC and never had any problems in the rain, but I drive slow (rain). I can get the car to lose its rear end in the rain VERY easy, but I am always trying to have fun with the car when that happens.

rev: I assume you live in Clear Lake. While I don't live there my girlfriend does. Where are you at down there?

I live near the corner of Pineloch and El Camino. I really like living in clear lake because it feels like a smaller city when living day to day life but then when you ned the metroplex it only takes 20-30 minutes to get there.

damn, 12? have you flashed? I realize you don't have to go very far, but still. Good to hear the rain isn't causing you any issues.

I have M flash. The catch is that the car runs rich while warming up. ( I am guessing.)

I filled up this morning and got 205 miles for 12.7 gallons. That includes 90 miles of highway drving.

205/12.7=16.15

amn, I was gonna say 12 is a little low. I get 21-23 and I drive alittle aggressive (through turns and open roads).

Hey guys. Read the post and thought I'd chime in. I live in Santa fe and drive to League City and Pearland for work and average about 18 to 20. Best has been about 21. Is M flash the computer upgrade? If so I got that last week. I drive an atuomatic though. Salesman said the aauto;s get better gas mileage. I'd love to get 24 mpg!

Yup. That includes all the random street driving I do from my house to work, and school and Boudreaux's

I've had mine for a week tomorrow and I get around 15. My commute is from Kingwood to the Greenspoint area, about 17 miles (according to the Nav).

I have been doing a lot of gratuitous driving though, mostly on the highway.

brillo,

I don't have any information right now. I'll get on to it once I finish up with circuits.

I haven't calculated recently but I know it isn't as good as it used to be during the winter (19 overall for 50/50 highway/city)

I am guessing that I am only getting 16 or so now. Just a guess. I will check on my next fill up.

I'm not Houston but I think it's close enough for comparison. Well, the humidity isn't as bad here in Austin.

I'm getting 15-16 in stop & go traffic to work. Longer drives see about 19. The best I've ever recorded was 21.8 of pure higway driving coming back from RevItUp in Dallas.

That's odd. Are most RX-8's experiencing poor gas mileage, even after the M-Flash? Since my M-Flash, I've been averaging 22.35 mpg. The most I ever saw was 24, and this was with me getting lost in Downtown today (stupid streets. I can't find a decent way how to get out from UHD ).
