Houston - Powdercoating/Wheel Painting Shop??

Fellow Houstonians,

I need some help locating a shop in Houston that can powdercoat wheels. I am purchasing some Axis Milano rims in the near future and preferably would like to powdercoat just the wheel portion (NOT THE LIP) to black. If it comes down to it, my next option would be to find a shop that can just paint it black instead, but as we all know powdercoating the wheels would be a much better option. So any leads would be greatly appreciated as my searches only point to industrial powdercoating places. Many Thanks.

Along the same lines, how about a shop for simple wheel refinishing/painting? My 8 has a pretty bad case of curb rash I'd like to get dressed up. I know about Wheels America for repairing bent/dented wheels, but they're $125 a pop.

Prafessa--why don 't you give Wheels America a call? I doubt that they do powdercoat, but they should know who does.

I gave them a call. Turns out that they can do the powdercoating, for of course the wonderful flat price of $129 a wheel, which from what I have researched so far is out of the price range for a job like that. And of course, they couldn't refer me to any other shops (more like they probably didn't want to tell me). So anyone have any other suggestions..Ultimately I probably will just pick up the yellow book and start putting my dialing finger to work. Thanks.

I had a full set of 4 wheels done for $400 at Louetta Powdercoating on the northside. They do some really nice work. I've seen a few other places that were cheaper but didn't look as good.

OK--How about simple wheel sanding and repainting--the curb rash repair. Any recomendations??

I've seen the DIY posts, but would have a pro do it if it was reasonable.

^^^Are you still at Barksdale?? Keesler here. Boy, has this place changed since the Summer! Weekends in Houston are a welcome respite, well worth 12 hours on the road. Thank God for a Compressed Work Schedule that gives alternate Fridays off.

Back to the subject at hand. I ended up going to Wheels America and having each wheel done at 129 a piece. I know its a lot, but there are several reasons I went to them:

- they are an 8 store national chain
- their testimonials all came from great sources such as dealerships and rim stores and even on other forums there were good things said about their work
- they provided a lifetime guaranty on their work (major ++++)
- 2 day turnaround
- and finally probably the main reason was that I was too lazy to go shopping around for the best deal especially after all this christmas shopping so I figure go with big business

So i picked my two front wheels up today and I must say I am very glad in my decision to use wheels america. Now they didn't actually powdercoat the wheels black. What they did was paint the wheel black and then powdercoat the clear coat on. It didn't matter to me as long as it came with a lifetime guaranty. After dropping them off I got a call 2 hours later saying that the rivets would be hard to leave the polished color and that they would probably just paint them black since it wasn't a true 2 piece wheel and that the rivets were glued on. This dissappointed me b/c the rivets make the wheel. Anyways with some regret I was setting myself for dissappointment constantly rethinking whether I made a good decision...Well, take a look at what I picked up and you be the judge...Go Wheels America...

Quality Product Finishing, Inc., does powder coating of wheels. On the north west side of town just south of the race track on Fairbanks No. Houston Rd. They also do sandblasting, steel shot blasting and they apply a large variety of wet industrial coatings including thin film engine part coatings in addition to powder coatings. They also blast and re-coat automotive frames from car restoration projects.
