I'm a new rx-8 owner in the arlington area and I'm trying to find out where all the other rx-8 owners meet up and on what days. If anyone could let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

 

Ah hah!!! Welcome aboard sir. We generally have a meet at Flips patio grill in grapevine every other tuesday (last one was this week) and then a 2nd on alternating thursdays at the BJs in Addison. We're having a meet at speedzone this coming tuesday and a group install sunday.(view posts in this forum)

i bought an 04 sports package its titanium grey with the black and tan lether grand touring interior.
ill have to post some pics for you guys when i figure out how to. other than that i put a custom dual apexi n1 exhaust on it and thats about it im looking for a good drop kit and a cold air intake right now so any good ones yall know about let me know i want to set it up for autocross.

 

Nice choice. Just keep in mind a cold air intake is a noisemaker and little more. Feel privileged you also have a group of 8 owners that get together every once and a while. What I wouldn't give for that......

 

im just learning about all these people around here with modded 8s ive had mine a month and a half so far so its just the beginning but i do know the cold air intake is just a noise maker mainly but they do help a little bit

 

Intake is mostly an audible mod, it will only free up 1-3hp. however, it does help the car breathe and if you do any exhaust work the two will compliment each other. I have the racingbeat revi and could not be happier hearing the rotary as i wind up to 9K on my way to work.

 

Buy an Accessport from Mazdamaniac if you have the money. It makes everything better.

 

im not exactly sure what an accessport is so you gotta help me out. is it like a tuner or programmer

It can tell you what check engine light is on (or block the light altogether if its something you did on purpose), it gives you more power, lowers the temperature for the fans to come on, increases the amount of oil injected, and I've gotten a 10% increase in mpg also.

 

I would go with the Tien S-techs, the drop it did to my car looks really nice. Like people have said though, just come out to the meets and you will start to learn a lot.

yeah i went and priced the tein s techs today and i like the price im gonna start saving for them and the accessport with my next few checks so hopefully in the next couple months ill have them both and have them put on. the only problem is that money is tight right now because of medical bills from back in january when i got injured but thats a long story so if anyone wants to know they will have to pm me about it.

10% increase in mpg.....really? Just curious, because I think the AP is a little overpriced, but this might change my mind.

 

if you want to autocross leave it as is. lightweight wheels and track tires, and maybe shocks. we are most competitive in b-stock. CAI and springs will move you up

 

I went from a steady 18.4mpg to 19.7-19.9mpg driving the same places in the same way as I always have. Thats what an 8% increase?

 

what are good shocks then cuz i might do that then and what about sway bars can i change those out or will they move me up also

why is that a friend of mine told me that tanabe makes better suspension parts for the rx-8s

 

well u can do whateva u choose man cuz its ur car and in the end if u dont like it u wont be any happy at all and if u arent happy then u wont like the car man im just giving u suggestions the teins can have different drops like the s-techs are lower than the h-techs it ends up being ur choice man its all up to you

 

i think im gonna go with the tanabe for the more level drop because i only like the raked look on my old hotrod
