Law Change...Front License Plate in Texas
Hey guys...my little brother is in the Police Academy this semester and he said that as of Sept. 1st the State of Texas changed the license plate law so that we are no longer required to have a front license plate on our cars. Has anyone else heard this yet? Does anyone know where to go to look this up?

I checked here http://www.tea.state.tx.us/drive/2005laws.html and didn't see it, but I may have missed it.

I would like to know...got a lot of friends without that front plate. Please hold everyone...I'm on the the line with JC
Alright to clarify...the law did not pass. The house passed it, but the senate pulled that article out of the bill and then the bill died in committee. So the petition that everyone is signing online is for nothing. Sorry guys...I hated that plate too...got MS plates now though!!

department that establishes that the vehicle is registered for the
period.
(b) A person commits an offense if the person operates on a
public highway during a registration period a passenger car or
commercial motor vehicle, other than a vehicle assigned license
plates for the registration period, that does not properly display
the registration insignia issued by the department that establishes

good lesson
police arent the best people to as ask about law. thats what lawyers are for. ive know several people who talked w/police about laws (thinking the police knew) only to find out that the cop was wrong or didnt care about enforcing that particular law.

FACTS:
The law did NOT pass.
It was part of HB3540 which eventually did get passed, however the specific subsection related the license plates was dropped from the bill several months ago while it was making it's way through the Texas Senate.
